Horizon Legacy is at the forefront of innovation in the construction industry, specializing in integrating robotic systems to address labour shortages and promote affordable housing solutions. We are committed to pioneering automation technologies that transform the future of building.
We are presently looking for a Material Concrete Scientist with Robotics Focus and the key responsibilities will be:
Conduct advanced research on concrete materials and formulations: Investigate the properties, durability, and performance of various concrete mixes, including sustainable and high-performance variants. Develop new formulations tailored for robotic construction applications.
Analyze material behavior under different environmental and mechanical conditions: Perform lab and field testing to assess how concrete responds to stress, temperature, moisture, and chemical exposure. Use data to optimize materials for automated placement and curing processes.
Collaborate with robotics engineers to integrate material science into automated construction workflows: Work closely with robotics teams to ensure concrete materials are compatible with robotic systems, including 3D printing, automated pouring, and finishing technologies.
Develop and test concrete mixes suitable for robotic handling and placement: Formulate mixes with specific rheological properties (e.g., flowability, setting time) that meet the requirements of robotic systems. Ensure consistency and reliability in automated environments.
Support the design and implementation of robotic systems for concrete manufacturing and construction: Provide material expertise during the development of robotic tools and systems, ensuring optimal interaction between concrete and machinery.
Evaluate the sustainability and lifecycle performance of concrete materials: Analyze the environmental impact of concrete production and usage. Recommend improvements in mix design, sourcing, and recycling to support green construction initiatives.
Stay current with emerging technologies in robotics, automation, and material science: Continuously monitor advancements in robotic construction, AI-driven material testing, and smart concrete technologies. Apply new knowledge to ongoing projects and R&D initiatives.
Mentor junior scientists and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams: Guide early-career researchers and interns. Work with engineers, architects, and project managers to align material innovations with project goals.
