Since its founding in 2009, Otter Energy has grown into a full-service solar provider. We are seeking a full-time Master Electrician that is passionate about energy and sustainability. The ideal candidate is a Professional Electrician with a strong background in solar or electrical system design. The ideal candidate must also want to be part of an entrepreneurial and growing team, who is able to be hands-on, and who strives to take ownership over what they do.

JOB SUMMARY:



The Master Electrician will work closely with the Operations Teams to support all technical aspects of project delivery from concept/proposal through to final completion. The Master Electrician will also play an essential role in supporting and implementing the design, permitting, construction, and commissioning of commercial and residential solar systems.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



Install electrical wiring, conduit, and systems on construction projects Troubleshooting electronic systems and conducting preventive maintenance programs Understand the requirements of solar system design and utility interconnection Liaising with clients, vendors, and other electricians Perform project closeout, including electrical system testing Participate in the equipment selection and procurement process Use and understand electrical single line diagram and installation details Being comfortable with new and retrofit projects Application of regulations to the area of expertise and ensuring compliance Incorporation of safety and risk analysis into equipment designs Electrical power and distribution systems design to support other disciplines/departments/offices Tie in solar installations to main service panels Utilize knowledge of A/C and D/C systems Works within a team environment to complete project assignments Administration duties/ tasks as required and all other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & KEY COMPETENCIES:



Experience with the following voltages: 600, 480, 208, 240 Experience working with the following amperages: 60a - 1,600a Knowledge and experience working on commercial electrical projects Time management skills Organization and prioritization skills Pays strong attention to detail Willingness to learn new skills, such as: solar system design, site analysis Strong interpersonal and written communication skills Knowledge of the solar industry and/or solar design software is considered an asset Demonstrate leadership qualities and ability to work independently, make decisions, and take responsibility for technical matters Have excellent problem solving and decision-making skills Self-motivated Ability to bend, lift, and twist Ability to lift 50lbs on a frequent or repetitive basis Knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and possesses a strong safety focus

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:



Must be a licensed Master Electrician Valid Ontario driver's license Must be able to travel throughout the province and stay away from home for extended periods of time (Monday - Friday) Valid working at Heights Certification
