Job Summary



The Massage Therapy Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall administration and management of the program and the respective campuses. This includes financial accountability and daily operations of the massage therapy program. The Program Coordinator will strive to achieve the highest possible educational standards while ensuring the provision of relevant and up-to-date instruction for the students. The Program Coordinator is also responsible to perform duties as an instructor as scheduled.

Duties and Responsibilities



Academic

1.0 Delivering prepared course materials through virtual or in person lectures and use of a learning management system.

2.0 Conducting courses in accordance with the provided Instructor Manual, the class schedule, and all instructional materials adopted for the course.

3.0 Evaluating and marking students' tests, quizzes, exams and assignments and providing students with feedback.

4.0 Foster an environment of co-operation and co-ordination among instructional staff

5.0 Participate in the student appeal and complaint process when required

6.0 Ensure the online lectures and in person practical components are coordinated between instructors and that the Instructor Manuals are followed

7.0 Ensure that all Instructor Manuals are up to date and accurate for all cohorts, if requested

Administrative

8.0 Ensure student hours are tracked in accordance with college procedures

9.0 Attend graduation ceremonies

10.0 Implement and follow the policies and procedures established by the College

11.0 Participate in meetings with staff, Program Advisory Committee (PAC), and Internal Program Review Committee (IPRC) when requested

12.0 Participate in student orientations on site or virtually as requested

13.0 Maintain proper records of student as directed by Campus Director (CD)

14.0 Submit monthly reports to the campus directors

15.0 Ensure marking and marks report forms are submitted on time

16.0 Review and ensure that all student medical documents meet the requirements for clinic and outreach

17.0 Complete regular remediation hours with students in need of assistance as directed by CD

18.0 Manage the Massage Therapy group email

19.0 Review current booklist and recommend changes in textbooks if necessary

20.0 Address the students when there is any situation that requires it

21.0 Monitor and update any changes to Practice Competency/Practice Indicators and ensure the program is mapped correctly, if requested

22.0 Ensure all instructors have current licence and are eligible to practice in Ontario as directed by CD

23.0 Provide list of students that are eligible for licencing exam, in coordination with the CD, to the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO)

Instructional

24.0 Teach students using a systematic plan that consists of lectures, demonstrations, discussion groups, interactive activities, independent and group projects

25.0 Inform students, beforehand, of the basis upon which their performance will be evaluated;

26.0 Organize and effectively use classroom time

27.0 Use instruction techniques/methods that recognize and take into account needs and learning capacities of students

28.0 Modify techniques during instruction in response to the needs of the students

29.0 Assist students in developing efficient learning skills and work habits

30.0 Ensure all course objectives and modules are taught according to the program schedules

31.0 Implement course outlines and daily breakdowns

32.0 Modify course outlines in light of the needs of the students

33.0 Establish an appropriate atmosphere in the classroom which is conducive to learning

34.0 Maintain fair, firm and consistent discipline with the students

35.0 Regularly monitor student progress and adjust courses accordingly

36.0 Prepare teaching materials and outlines for courses

37.0 Prepare, administer and mark tests and papers to evaluate students' progress

38.0 Provide individualized tutorial or remedial instruction to students who require it

39.0 Supervise independent or group projects

40.0 Base the evaluation of students on the guidelines established by the College

41.0 Ensure that the evaluation of students is appropriate;

42.0 Keep accurate and complete records of student performance

43.0 Ensure all evaluation records are regularly updated on the college's electronic server;

44.0 Prepare final examinations in accordance with guidelines established on the course outline

45.0 Provide timely feedback to students regarding academic progress

46.0 Promote a positive and pleasant clinic experience for students and clients

47.0 Provide support and feedback to students

48.0 Supervise all aspects of clinic

49.0 Work with Campus Director to make sure all cancellations and clinic openings are taken care of accordingly

50.0 Provide individualized feedback to students and provide extra support to students who require it

51.0 Ensure that the evaluation of students is appropriate;

52.0 Keep accurate and complete records of student attendance and performance

53.0 Ensure all evaluation records are regularly updated on the college's electronic server;

Clinical Supervision

54.0 Promote a positive and pleasant clinic experience for students and clients

55.0 Provide support and feedback to students

56.0 Supervise all aspects of clinic

57.0 Work with Campus Director to make sure all cancellations and clinic openings are taken care of accordingly

58.0 Provide individualized feedback to students and provide extra support to students who require it

59.0 Ensure that the evaluation of students is appropriate;

Outreach Supervision

62.0 Assist program coordinator by referring outreach opportunities

63.0 Reviewing the expectations of an outreach with students at the start of each outreach

64.0 Follow the appropriate process as outlined by the college for outreaches

65.0 Monitor student treatments and provide instruction and corrections to students when necessary

66.0 Record and sign off on student treatments performed during outreaches

67.0 Track student attendance during outreach hours

Other

68.0 Maintain complete and accurate documentation in areas of responsibility and ensure the safe storage of all documentation

69.0 Stay current on industry trends and maintain CMTO certification

70.0 Continue professional development within the industry you are instructing

71.0 Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications



Education

The successful candidate needs to be a Registered Massage Therapist in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) and hold a current membership with the provincial massage therapy association (RMTAO). Must currently hold or be willing to obtain first aid and CPR level HCP to monitor the clinic.

Experience

The successful candidate requires a minimum of 24 months of working experience in their field of study to qualify as an industry instructor. It will be a requirement for this position that the candidate maintain professional registration through the governing body during employment.

Compensation



The successful candidate can expect starting rate for instructor duties between $30-$33 per hour.
