Job Description

Marketing Strategist

Who Are You?

You're results-obsessed, but you know results don't happen without sharp strategy, compelling content, and a clear understanding of the brand. You thrive at the intersection of data and storytelling - equally excited by a great campaign idea and the performance metrics that show it worked. You understand how marketing connects to sales and build strategies that drive awareness, generate leads, and fuel revenue growth. You're a strong individual contributor with deep expertise in digital marketing, from content and campaign strategy to analytics, optimization, and execution.

What's The Role?

This is a hands-on, strategy-first marketing role. You'll be responsible for creating and executing digital marketing plans that drive measurable results like business outcomes like leads, revenue, and brand growth.

You'll own one of our internal brands, build campaigns across multiple channels, and use data to iterate, improve, and show impact. Some days you'll be deep in content and creative briefs. Other days you'll be pulling reports, tweaking messaging, or jumping into a brainstorm to help connect the dots. You'll work closely with internal teams and sales to make sure the strategy actually delivers - and when it doesn't, you'll figure out why and pivot fast.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to own their work, be trusted to make decisions, and do marketing that moves the needle. It's not entry-level, and it's not a management role - but it is a great fit for someone who's already experienced in marketing and ready to take full ownership of their work, their clients, and their results.

Responsibilities

Build and execute data-informed marketing strategies that align with business and client goals. Design and lead multi-channel campaigns that drive traffic, generate leads, and support conversion at every stage of the funnel. Develop content strategies and messaging that reinforce brand positioning and resonate with target audiences. Work closely with sales and other internal teams to ensure alignment across marketing and business development efforts. Analyze campaign performance, produce insights, and optimize strategies using data from tools like Google Analytics, social media, and CRM platforms. Contribute to internal marketing initiatives, including brand-building efforts, internal communications, events, and thought leadership content. Stay current with marketing trends and best practices, bringing forward new ideas and opportunities to elevate our marketing approach. Create briefs, oversee content and creative development, and work with design, video, and web teams to bring marketing initiatives to life.

Required Experience & Skills

Legally able to work in Canada and located in Calgary, AB. Bachelor's degree or diploma in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent corporate work experience. 2+ years of experience in customer service or hospitality (serving or bartending experience is considered a strong asset). 2+ years of experience in digital marketing with demonstrated results Strong background in client service, hospitality, or customer relationship management Excellent written and verbal communication skills Exceptional project management abilities, with a track record of delivering multiple initiatives on time and on budget Deep understanding of digital marketing platforms and tools, including paid and organic social, email marketing, SEO/SEM, and Google Analytics Strategic mindset with strong analytical skills; able to translate data into actionable insights Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team Proficiency in social media scheduling tools, basic graphic design, or video editing is a strong asset Strong research skills to inform campaigns, audience targeting, and competitive positioning

How to Apply

At POD, we believe "that most job requirements and conceptual knowledge are easily trainable. But you can't teach drive, ambition, or passion." (Take a look at this article, Finding Your Unicorn, written by our President, Kevin Wilhelm). Our hiring managers consider alignment with our core values and passion for our company culture to be as valuable as experience and education.

Finding the right fit is important to us, and we put real care into reviewing applications. This is your chance to show us who you are: your voice, your attention to detail, and your excitement about joining the team. Take a few extra minutes to help us see why this opportunity is the right fit for you.

We often see strong candidates miss out because of preventable issues like missing cover letters, referencing the wrong job title or company, or submitting unedited AI-generated content. We encourage the use of AI to streamline your process, but your application should still reflect your voice and accuracy. If this role excites you, let that show in how you apply.

A few tips to stand out:

Submit an up-to-date resume that highlights the skills and experience we are looking for Include a personalized cover letter or a video cover letter (one is required, both are not necessary) Share why this specific role excites you and how your background connects to it Make sure your application is error-free (especially the basics like company name and job title) Answer the application questions with intention. Your responses don't need to be long; quality over quantity matters! If you use AI, review and edit so it sounds like you and is factually correct (no - passion and innovation are not our core values, no matter what ChatGPT tells you) Review the posted salary range before you apply and make sure it aligns with what you're comfortable with If you choose to submit a video cover letter, keep it short and engaging (under 2 minutes, please!)

Always apply through our website:

We will reach out by email if you are selected for the next step. Either way, we appreciate your interest and the time you spent getting to know us.

At POD Marketing, we believe in creating an inclusive work environment, which is why we're proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We consider and evaluate all qualified candidates based on their qualifications without discrimination based on race, colour, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristics.
