Position Summary
The Marketing & Communications Manager supports Habitat for Humanity Huronia's mission by strengthening community awareness, engaging supporters, and showcasing the impact of affordable homeownership. This role will be responsible for creating compelling content, coordinating marketing and communications activities, supporting donor and volunteer engagement, and ensuring consistent branding across all platforms. The manager works closely with staff, volunteers, partner families, donors, ReStore teams, and community partners to advance Habitat Huronia's visibility and support the ReStores, fundraising, events, and program initiatives. Duties and Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Brand Management
Support the development and implementation of Habitat Huronia's annual marketing and communications plan.
Maintain brand identity in alignment with Habitat for Humanity Canada standards.
Develop and design marketing materials, including brochures, posters, newsletters, fact sheets, impact reports, and event collateral.
Track marketing and campaign metrics to support reporting for grants, fundraising initiatives, and partner engagement.
Manage communications and marketing budget, including identifying advertising revenue opportunities.
Prepare speeches and talking points and media material for senior staff.
Digital Communications
Manage and grow Habitat Huronia's social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and other platforms as applicable).
Create, schedule, and monitor social media content showcasing builds, ReStore promotions, volunteer stories, partner family milestones, recognition, sponsorships, and events.
Update website content including build updates, calendars, events, ReStore news, volunteer opportunities, and family stories.
Coordinate email newsletters and donor/volunteer communications through Mailchimp or other platforms.
Ensure online engagement reflects Habitat Huroia's values of respect, inclusion, and community impact.
Content Creation & Storytelling
Craft clear, compelling messaging that highlights Habitat Huronia's mission of building homes, communities and hope through affordable homeownership.
Capture photography and videography at build sites, ReStores, events, key donor moments, volunteer days, and homeowner celebrations, events and more.
Produce written stories for newsletters, funding applications, social media, and Habitat Canada submission and reporting requirements.
Assist in gathering data, quotes, testimonials, and family narratives in alignment with Habitat Huronia's privacy and consent guidelines.
Media Relations & Public Awareness
Draft and distribute media advisories, press releases, and public announcements.
Coordinate coverage for build milestones such as groundbreakings, wall raisings, key ceremonies, and ReStore initiatives.
Maintain relationships with local media outlets across Barrie, Essa, Oro-Medonte, Springwater, and surrounding communities.
Support public education efforts around affordable housing and Habitat Huronia's impact.
Event & Fundraising Support
Support marketing and promotions for events such as Golf FORE Habitat, Meaning of Home, ReStore events, and special campaigns.
Assist with event logistics, photography, signage, digital assets, and live social media coverage.
Collaborate with the Fund Development team on campaign messaging, donor stewardship materials, sponsorship decks, and impact updates.
Promote ReStore initiatives, sales, donation drives, and community partnerships.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, or related field.
Minimum of Three (3) years of leadership experience in marketing or communications; nonprofit experience is an asset.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling accessible content.
Strong interpersonal skills and leadership skills with demonstrated experience advising senior leadership and managing staff.
Proficiency in social media management, digital marketing tools, and content scheduling platforms.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, content management systems and graphic design tols (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent)
Familiarity with website content management.
Photography/videography experience considered a strong asset.
Excellent organization and multitasking abilities.
A collaborative, mission-driven mindset.
Ability to work varying hours / days if required.
Current and Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for site and community visits.

Office-based with regular visits to build sites, ReStores, and community events.
Offices in Barrie and Collingwood.
Hybrid options may be available.
Occasional lifting, setup, or outdoor work during events and build days.
