Opportunity MacEwan University invites applicants for a full-time continuing Marketing and Communications Consultant opportunity with our Office of Research Services (ORS) and MacEwan International (MI). You will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communications projects for the ORS/MI departments as well as executing these initiatives. You will promote research and international activities to the internal university community, and the public, in support of recruitment and retention strategies that contribute to the total student experience. You are required to be proficient in all ORS/MI business lines, which all differ significantly and require attention to many different audiences. Your responsibilities will include:

  • developing, implementing and evaluating marketing and communications projects and campaigns for the departments to increase awareness of services and provide and establish a strong image and reputation.
  • designing, producing and coordinating the distribution of marketing collateral and digital content for advertising, promoting and raising awareness of ORS/MI.
  • assisting in establishing and maintaining marketing budgets and timelines for campaigns and projects.
  • liaising and consulting with other marketing and communications units in the university to ensure consistency and share ideas.
  • conduct market research to define and respond to target markets for various department areas within ORS/MI.
  • ensuring consistency with the university’s Visual Identity Policy E6010.
  • consulting and assisting with developing and producing web content for the individual areas within the departments.
  • liaising with designers, typesetters, printers, photographers, suppliers and other university departments as required.
  • coordinating the participation of ORS/MI in the university intranet site and serving as one of its web content specialists, including monitoring and reporting on web analytics.
  • developing and updating the social media brand guide and strategy for ORS/MI and its areas and contributing to all social media planning and execution for the departments, including assisting with content development.
  • developing communications materials and writing copy for editorial articles, blog posts, newsletter content, web content, etc.
  • assisting in media relations efforts for ORS/MI and its areas, in partnership with university media relations activity.
  • assisting in developing strategic communications plans for ORS/MI individual areas.
SKILLS The successful incumbent will possess:
  • Excellent research, writing, design and editing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and planning skills.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently as well as with teams.
  • Excellent writing/editing skills.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office Suite, Google Docs, and Windows environments.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to handle multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in marketing, advertising or communications.
  • Previous experience with websites.
  • Previous experience with graphic design and, specifically, experience with software programs such as Adobe CS.
  • Experience in photography and editing is an asset.
  • Experience with all aspects of social media (including Facebook, Twitter, Whats App, etc.), including analysis.
  • Equivalences may be considered.
