Simplot Company is a true farm-to-table company with operations that touch every aspect of agriculture, including seed production, farming and ranching, plant sciences, fertilizer manufacturing, food processing, commercial product development, and distribution.SummaryThis Leadership Team position oversees sales and operations for the North Central region locations of Meota and Hamlin and is responsible for the Profit and Loss for the Market.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMarket Operations Manager

  • Oversee annual planning and budget development for region retail operations working closely with Region Manager and Finance Team.
  • Develop to facilities and equipment upgrade wish list in cooperation with Location Operations Managers
  • Assist with the development of the annual regional business plan as directed by Region Manager
  • Oversee strategy for pricing of products and services for the Market
  • Work with Marketing Team on marketing and promotions for demand creation as suggested by Marketing Team
  • Advise and oversee on special projects as directed by Region Manager
  • Oversee the promotion of Simplot Grower Solutions brand and image in the industry and communities
  • Maintain positive relations with suppliers and customers
  • Oversee compliance with safety and regulatory requirements by all retail Location Operations Manager
  • Oversee forecasting and planning function for crop input products for the Market
  • Direct and advise on inventory management process for crop input products for the Market
  • Ensure all requested reports by Region Manager, Leadership Team and Business Unit Ops Team are delivered on time and in the proper form
ResponsibilitiesMarket Sales Manager
  • Oversee sales process, advise on Market sales strategies, and drive the sales culture for the Market in cooperation with Account Managers and Location Operations Managers
  • Establish relationships with at least the top 5 key accounts in each location in the Market
  • Provide leadership to locations sales and ops teams to ensure high level of professionalism, agronomic ability and determination to understand customer needs to the highest level possible.
  • Support all sales planning, training, relationship management, CRM, recruitment and hiring process for the location operations, in cooperation with Region Manager
Strategic Planner
  • Support and contribute to all planning work directed by the Region Manager
  • Assist with the communication of the company vision and strategic plan
  • Work to ensure a relevant and up to date understanding of industry and customer trends
  • Assist with the establishment and ensure understanding of our strategic vision, values and how we behave within location and sales teams.
Industry Liaison
  • Establish and maintain strong senior level relationships with supplier companies and develop a large industry network
  • Communicate effectively with designated representatives for manufactures and distributors
  • Learn and upgrade knowledge of new products and product updates on chemical, fertilizer, and seed as required
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of key industry people and competitors
Team Lead
  • Ensure communication of direction to reporting team members
  • Advise in process for salary and compensation levels for location team members
  • Assist in recruitment of location team members
  • Regularly communicate with all reporting team members to determine needs and satisfaction
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with the core values with reporting team members
  • Ensure completion of Simplot Grower Solutions Performance Management process and conduct semi-annual performance reviews with direct reports
  • Ensure reporting people leaders are following Simplot Grower Solutions Performance Management process
  • Work to solve issues/complaints between reporting team members
  • Arbitrate unresolved issues and conflicts between reporting team members when appropriate and requested
  • Determine job expectations for all reporting team members
  • Ensure that professional development requirements for all direct reports are met and completed on time
Market Sales and Ops Team
  • Attend all Market Sales and Ops Team meetings
  • Provide appropriate reports for meetings as suggested by other Market Sales and Ops team members or as suggested by the agenda
  • Prepare Market Sales and Ops Team with appropriate review of agenda and materials
  • Facilitate team meetings when requested by Region Manager
  • Be active and positive contributor to Sales and Ops Team meetings
Leadership Team Member
  • Attend all Leadership Team meetings possible
  • Provide appropriate reports for meetings as suggested by other Leadership Team members
  • Prepare for Leadership Team meetings with appropriate review of agenda and materials
  • Be active and positive contributor to Leadership Team meetings
Simplot Grower Solutions Member
  • Contribute to and maintain a positive attitude in the workplace
  • Keep and maintain confidentiality of all customers, employees and suppliers and Simplot Grower Solutions business
  • Help with any special projects as required
  • Be familiar with and live the values that are defined by the Simplot Grower Solutions
  • Continually develop leadership and business skills
  • Approve, attend, and contribute to community activities when appropriate

Expectations in addition to Roles and Responsibilities
  • Retail locations are the primary profit centers for Simplot Grower Solutions. Ensure retail operations from Market locations drive a positive financial return for the company and reach expected hurdle rates.
  • Be present and meet with team members in each location at least bi-monthly
  • Primary support for direct reports in aligning with evolving new culture
  • Have an open mind and be willing to support demand creation marketing activities in region
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business or Agriculture is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years industry experience in agriculture sales and operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in a Leadership role, including directing & managing people, is strongly preferred.
Physical Demands:
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Agri-industry hours - overtime, as required
