Opportunity Awaits at Altus Group!

The opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Altus Data Solutions, we are looking for a Market Analyst to join our team in Toronto for a 14-month contract. You will be part of a collaborative team responsible for producing our industry-leading RealNet commercial transactions database. Through physical assessment of properties and sites, you will broaden your industry knowledge of the busiest real estate market in Canada and gain exposure to all commercial asset classes.

What's in it for you

Career growth. You may be a recent grad, or you may have industry experience. Either way, you are passionate about real estate, research, and working with data. You are seeking the chance to be part of global scaling organization where we mentor our junior contractors. It's a chance to work with the best data available, and gain a wealth of experience positioning yourself for the next move here or elsewhere in this industry. You will be part of a diverse, collaborative team, sharing best practices, and thriving in a non-competitive environment. The data you collect and verify is used across many of our business groups.

Exposure. You will be a part of an organization that works on an exciting range of commercial property projects across the country, a place that is recognized at the top of our industry. You will gain insights into commercial real estate properties through site visits, working across internal teams, and fostering relationships with property managers, brokers, urban planners and developers. You want a role that balances heads-down work with off-site research - that positively impacts the success of an organization.

What you will do:

Research and data entry. You will conduct detailed research and analysis on land transactions, including development applications. You will complete accurate data entry and in-depth preliminary analysis of commercial property sales.

Communication. You will work closely with the team to ensure the publishing of sales transactions, weekly newsletters, and data in Canadian publications is accurate and complete.

Visit sites. You will conduct physical assessments of properties and projects in the Greater Toronto Area.

Stay on top of trends. You will maintain an understanding of commercial real estate activity, including sales and listings, throughout the Greater Toronto Area. You will attend industry events and meetings, review professional publications, establish professional networks and contacts, and benchmark best practices.

Follow best practices. You will continuously upgrade your knowledge regarding data collection and commercial real estate industry trends to increase productivity and maintain high standards. You will assist in the establishing and implementing of data governance and standards.

Build relationships. You will foster strong relationships with brokers, stakeholders, planners, and developers to gain data cooperation and collection support. You will be trained by senior team members.

Our new Market Analyst will have:

Education and experience. You have a degree or diploma in Real Estate, Geography, Urban Planning, Business, Economics, or a related discipline. You may have 1+ years in commercial real estate, where you've gained familiarity with collecting data and information about commercial properties. And you have a desire to deepen your knowledge of the commercial real estate and development industries.

Technical skills. You have finely tuned skills in data collection, data interpretation, and compiling information; you know where data resides in the system and how data entries and changes may impact data in other parts of the system. You are proficient with Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Interpersonal skills. You have flexible and effective communication skills, and you can leverage insights, clarify ambiguities, and present complex information in a structured and accessible way. You have the confidence to make phone calls to new contacts to retrieve property/project information and nurture connections in person. You are a team player who can build trusting relationships within and across teams.

Flexibility. You are willing and able to work outside of business hours on occasion; and have a valid driver's license.
