The Manufacturing Manager is responsible to plan, organize, schedule, lead, and manage the production operations of the manufacturing division. They are responsible for driving results related to safety, quality, cost, and delivery while managing short and long-term strategies and processes. They coordinate the Manufacturing team to meet customer requirements and work closely with the Service Manager to ensure targets are met.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
Ensure all jobs are completed within budget and on schedule.
Direct, control, and evaluate daily floor operations to maintain product flow and quality standards.
Develop and manage production schedules; assess labor capacity and respond to workforce gaps with appropriate actions.
Coordinate with Manufacturing Coordinators to prioritize work-in-process, ensuring alignment with outsourcing and inventory requirements.
In partnership with the QHSE Lead, identify and prioritize quality improvements, implement sustainable action plans, investigate warranty claims, and assist with customer responses.
Champion a safety-first culture by encouraging hazard identification, ensuring corrective actions are completed, and implementing improved risk-reduction methods.
Track and analyze division Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including Conformance to Schedule, Direct Labor Variance, and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative, responsive, and reliable customer service.
Maintain the Master Production Schedule, Cut Lists, Job Travellers, and Capacity Plans within the ERP system.
Apply Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies to drive efficiency and enhance production performance.
Participate in weekly meetings to share production results and align on future objectives.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Leadership & Management Accountabilities

Provide leadership and support to staff through clear coaching and mentoring, conflict resolution, and effective mediation.
Evaluate employee performance and provide clear feedback & expectations, via conducting regular quarterly conversations and annual performance reviews.
Manage, lead and reward individual employee and team performance.
Provide clear and consistent direction to all direct reports.
Provide the necessary tools, resources, and training for staff to complete their job responsibilities.
Manage staffing needs and oversee schedules to provide effective support and resources.
Empower staff with the confidence, job knowledge and skills to execute their job responsibilities effectively.
Ensure that departmental initiatives, strategies, and decisions are aligned with the goals and objectives of the company.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
Journeyman Machinist Certification is considered an asset
Minimum 5 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Hydraulic cylinder experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Advanced knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings and specifications in support of quality requirements
Advanced knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Proficient use of computer systems and software applications including ERP or MRP software
Highly organized with strong time management skills
Must be adaptable to changing work environments and competing demands and is able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
Previous experience with Lean Six Sigma principles
