Position Overview We are seeking a driven, detailed-oriented Junior Buyer to be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products for our business. The position responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating and maintaining inventory levels. The Buyer will work with staff across various departments and with the Purchasing Manager. Our manufacturing facility is located within the Durham Region but is part of a global business platform. Essential Job Functions
  • Research, select and purchase, raw materials, quality products, components, within budget and delivery target dates.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with plant manufacturing, production planning, engineering and various stakeholders including other global locations.
  • Process requisitions and update management on status of orders. Advance SAP skills
  • Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  • Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
  • Resolving any purchase price variances and invoicing discrepancies.
  • Communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations
  • Explore alternate sources for goods and materials, as well as identifying sources. Lead times and pricing for new or modified parts.
  • Coordinate with various departments and stakeholders, as required
  • Maintaining accuracy of ERP-system for data order and integrity. This includes quantities, due dates, special instructions and terms and conditions.
Job Requirements
  • College Diploma in a Supply Chain or Engineering related field
  • 2- 5 years knowledge or experience in a purchasing practices and techniques
  • Experience in supply chain logistics and/or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications related to engineering drawings
  • Strong business background, understanding budgets and operational requirements.
  • Advance knowledge of SAP or other MRP system.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure

  • Manual lifting of various weighted products may be occasionally required

  • Use of personal protective equipment may be required
  • Overtime work may be required
