Job Description



JOB SUMMARY: The (Jr) Buyer is responsible for capital and tooling purchases as required by Power Technologies North American plants\xe2\x80\x99 growth (new / existing programs) within the functional commodity categories and with its portfolio of suppliers. He / she will also support Power Technologies purchasing processes for the cost-effective procurement of production equipment and tooling.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Document the information required for the sourcing packages as provided by the plants and / or engineering.
  • Prepare the commercial documentation (Terms & Conditions, Purchase Term Sheet, PO language, securities file etc)
  • As directed negotiate with the supplier\xe2\x80\x99s price, payment terms, warrant so on so the required cost targets are met or exceeded.
  • Work with other functions to verify the POs for correctness.
  • Participate in team problem solving actions throughout the project execution (for the delivery of purchased assets etc)
  • Support strategic advanced supplier selection process as part of supplier development and management.
  • Data collection and submission as requested by the PT Global Manager to support functional evaluations.
  • Other tasks as required.


Education Qualifications Required:
  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration (Supply Chain Management / Purchasing is preferred)
  • Similar education in Engineering (Mechanical, manufacturing) will also be considered.
  • Professional certification in process.


Experience & Skills Required
  • One (1) \xe2\x80\x93 three (3) years purchasing experience in a high pace environment, where timing is a constrain, JIT execution is expected.
  • Working experience in manufacturing sector, preferable in automotive, and exposure to manufacturing equipment and tooling
  • Knowledge of purchasing, supply-chain management, and operations functions.
  • Familiarity with Procurement performance metrics with flow-down to supplier contracts
  • Ability to manage the entire capital / tooling procurement process from start to finish.
  • Must demonstrate a good business acumen including knowledge of manufacturing, design engineering, finance, and quality to understand the impact of sourcing decisions on the overall business success.
  • Experience in preparing and analyzing commercial documentation (contracts, financial calculations). Detail orientation is key.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including ability to identify and resolve issues and challenges.
  • General understanding of blueprints and technical specifications.
