We are currently looking for a Buyer to join our Procurement team in a Temporary position. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for providing excellent service by understanding customers\' needs, who enthusiastically supports change, sharing your expertise, taking responsibility for your development, and actively seeking new challenges.

As Buyer you will:

  • As the Buyer you are responsible for the planning, and procurement of materials and services required to operate various NSPower Stations.
  • You will be responsible for the tactical acquisition of services and materials as well as inventory, planning and forecasting, and expediting.
  • You will leverage supplier relationships to maximize the benefits of cost, quality and delivery of goods and services.
  • You will work as a team member to ensure efficient and effective planning and coordination of requirements across the supply chain to minimize cycle time in supply and acquisition.
  • You will be responsible to ensure that the receiving, issuance and replenishment of material as well as clerical administration functions are performed effectively and in accordance with procurement guidelines.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that supply agreements are negotiated and managed in an effective manner and will also be required to maintain existing contracts and to pursue continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities. This will be achieved this by using your financial analysis skills.
  • The successful candidate will be required to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal customers both verbally and written.
  • You will ensure that all goods purchased are transported, received, and stored in accordance with all Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations and guidelines, and that Quality Assurance guidelines are met.
  • You will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
What skills will make you successful?

You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:
  • You must possess a College/University degree with a minimum of 3 - 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working towards professional designation (i.e. CPP/SCMP/CPIM/CSCP) or formal training in procurement or inventory control would be an asset.
  • You must be proficient with computers and programs such as Maximo, Oracle Financials, and the Microsoft Office Suite of software.
  • You will have a strong knowledge of the market solicitation process (tendering, RFPs) and analytical skills when it comes to evaluation.
  • You must demonstrate skills in sourcing material through the effective use of computer driven tools such as the internet, and through industry contacts.
  • You must have demonstrated research and analytical skills and a strong ability to interact with all levels of the company.
