NEP is currently recruiting for a

Mechanical Engineering Technologist/Technician

to assist the principal engineer. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a design for fabrication mindset. This position is based out of Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The candidate will be responsible for designing fabrication ready fixtures, tooling and systems, while liaising with engineering subcontractors and clients, review engineering deliverables, preparing engineering fabrication packages and other process documentation for the manufacturing of heavy custom fabrications. They will be responsible for creating comprehensive SolidWorks CAD models and fabrication drawings from rough sketches and/or client drawings. The successful candidate must work in conjunction with Production, Quality and Sales department to create and sustain a positive, high-energy continuous improvement environment while meeting customer schedules and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



Work in an engineering environment with other designers in collaboration with a team of Professional Engineers and Technologists

Assist NEP's Principal Engineer in billable and capital projects including fixture and tooling design.

Generate conceptual designs as well as fabrication ready detailed drawing packages using SolidWorks software.

Create/review project documents, e.g., Inspection Test Plans, Procedures, Technical Specifications etc.

Design fixtures and other mechanical components to improve/automate plant operations

Liaison effectively with NEP's vendors, suppliers and clients

Position Requirements:



An

Engineering Degree

or

Engineering Technology Diploma

or equivalent experience in a technical/manufacturing field

5-8 years

of experience in

Custom

Fabrication/ Manufacturing;

experience in

Nuclear

industry will be an asset

Experience working with

SolidWorks and PDM

Vault data management is a must. SolidWorks certification considered an asset.

Sound understanding of fabrication, machining and welding processes.

Strong focus on Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA)

Experience in basic FEA and hand calculations

Exceptional ability to model in CAD and to produce technical drawings of company products and tooling using SolidWorks (including Weldments and Sheet Metal)

Knowledge of BOM creation, Production Orders, Navigating ERP systems

Pay: $70,000.00-$88,000.00 per year
