The Opportunity

Our Operations engineering team is a key to meeting the needs of our growing business. This team is relied upon for identification, management and mitigation of our process safety and reliability risks.

Reporting to the Director, Canada Operations Technical Support, the Manager of Operations Engineering, Mainline/TQM is responsible for leading a team of operations Engineers and technologists to maximize day to day process safety and reliability of our facilities. To do this, the successful candidate is expected to mentor and develop a team who supports Canada Gas by facilitating risk-based decision making, work prioritization. The successful candidates will share TC Energy's core value of safety and strive to ensure safe work practices and outcomes across their projects.

What you'll doLead a group of talented engineers and technologists - mentoring them in operations risk-based decision making and prioritization Partner with the specialists and technicians' staff to ensure our facilities operated safely and reliably Partner with Canada Gas operations leadership to ensure alignment on work prioritization Development and implement innovative maintenance & repair methodologies Develop and evaluate operational data sets to identify gaps in maintenance and reliability programs Liaison between field and engineering/planning teams in Calgary Evaluate and communicate facility system health to support asset management and program development Identify reliability gaps and develop creative, innovative solutions Implement an operational risk-based management system to identify and prioritize operational risks


Minimum QualificationsUniversity degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Registered, or eligible to register with, APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) 10+ years of progressive relevant engineering experience Demonstrated ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a continuously changing work environment Proven ability to drive short-term and long-term technical solutions to complex and ambiguous problems Experienced with engineering principles, codes, and standards to identify issue and recommend improvements Ability to recognize and adapt to changing business priorities


Preferred QualificationsBroad engineering expertise Troubleshooting skills, including familiarity with all aspects of facility operation Previous experience using or implementing operational risk management systems Familiarity with norms and standards related to equipment reliability, safety, and risk management Ability to prioritize and manage numerous competing work requests and expectations simultaneously Previous maintenance reliability process and system development experience
This position requires candidates to:Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review Stay away from home base overnight which will include living in and maintaining company camps or housing (~10% of the time)
