Job Description


The Inuit Art Foundation (IAF) is seeking a Managing Editor to join our Inuit Art Foundation Inuit Art Quarterly Magazine team!

The Managing Editor is a critical member of the editorial team for the Inuit Art Quarterly. Working collaboratively with the IAQ\xe2\x80\x99s Tattunnguaqti and reporting to the Executive Director and Publisher, the Managing Editor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the magazine across print and online platforms.

This position is hybrid in nature and can be completed from anywhere within Canada. If living in the Greater Toronto Area you will be required to work in our Toronto Office 1 \xe2\x80\x93 2 days per week.

The Role:

  • A key member of the team, the Managing Editor will be responsible for:
  • In collaboration with the Tattunnguaqti, establish clear annual editorial publishing targets across platforms and ensure they are met;
  • Create and manage production schedules for the print magazine and online platforms;
  • Monitor editorial style and work with the editorial team to recommend updates to the style guide;
  • Coordinate and run editorial meetings;
  • Plan and approve assignments for writers and editors, in collaboration with the Tattunnguaqti and guest editors; and
  • Ensure grant-funded activities are completed on time and in alignment with relevant funding agreements.
  • Effectively manage and support a team of at least three Associate Editors and one Assistant Editor;
  • Effectively manage the department\xe2\x80\x99s annual budget and any project-specific budgets, including reviewing and approving invoices; and
  • Assist with reporting for funders (including granting agencies and private donors) by drafting reports, collecting impact stories and collecting relevant data.
  • Attending both internal and external events, which may involve travel;
  • All other duties as assigned.

The Inuit Art Foundation is an Inuit-led charity providing support to Inuit artists working throughout Inuit Nunaat and beyond. The IAF\xe2\x80\x99s team works remotely and onsite at its offices in Toronto, ON. Our main office is located on the ancestral and traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishnaabe and the Huron-Wendat, the original owners and custodians of this land. Status: Permanent, Full-time (35 hours per week)

Salary: $70,000
