SUMMARY
DSV is a leading 3PL operating in all areas of supply chain fulfillment in more than 80 countries. The Managing Director of DSV Road Canada is responsible for the Canadian ground transportation program, reporting to the President of DSV Road North America. The Managing Director is responsible for the business unit\'s P&L, operational excellence and growth, provides leadership for multiple managers, supervisors and other colleagues, and is responsible for growing the business unit and increase the market presence of our company as a best-in-class logistics provider. The Managing Director provides strategic, commercial and operational oversight of multiple client operations. The Managing Director is responsible for the strategic direction, financial performance, profitability, service delivery, client retention, new business growth, team building and operational excellence of the North American Road region while maintaining a client-centric and employee first focus.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assumes overall responsibility of P&L, budget and growth across Canada, including intra-Canada and cross-border
  • Formulates and designs key strategic initiatives for the Road product in the North American region, and ensure effective communication and adoption thereof
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to determine strategic partnerships with vendors, customers, and 3rd party providers
  • Forms part of the North American senior leadership team and provides direction to ensure continued business growth and targets are met
  • Assists and manages onboarding of new companies/acquisitions as required, including vendors, customers, employees and others
  • Plays a key role in the determination and implementation of technology offerings across the region, including but not limited to TMS, visibility, procurement and workflow and improvements
  • Manages and develops client relationships from all areas of the business
  • Develops and analyzes daily, weekly, and monthly reports for accuracy, trends, and areas needing development
  • Interact with other divisional sales members and managers to actively cross sell DSV Road Services
  • Responsible to direct and achieve Sales budgets, activities and KPI\'s
  • Assists in identifying and targeting new business for the division, with a specific focus on cross-border traffic and partnerships
  • Formulates, monitors, and achieves the divisions quarterly objectives and financial targets
  • Manages costs within the business and looks for efficiencies and improvements, while delivering bottom-line budget commitments
  • Manages company assets in line with targets, forecasts, and strategic requirements
  • Identifies opportunities and risks within the business that may impact the business environment and ability to deliver to shareholder commitments
  • Ensures compliance with internal and external controls and KPI\'s set at the global and regional levels
  • Motivates and supports co-workers, integrates, and promotes the Company\'s values into daily actions and interactions (Integrity, Innovation, Teamwork, Dedication and Respect)
  • Manages people\'s performance and growth to create a sustainable business environment, managed through direct reports to meet company targets and strategies
  • Builds teams to ensure succession plans are put in place, to progress and further the growth of the business
  • Identifies gaps in structure and skillset, and relevant training and changes to meet market and business demands
  • Strong transportation, commercial and operational truck brokerage knowledge, with a proven track record of implementing new business and carrier partners
  • Manages and develops client relationships from all areas of the business
  • Proven track record on selling and implementing surface transportation solutions
  • Leverage all systems to increase productivity, profitability, and operational efficiencies
  • Works closely with Business Support functions to establish, implement and continuously improve internal and external processes and procedures

  • Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety, and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy
  • Staff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • Master\'s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 15+ years industry experience
  • 9 years management experience
  • 9 years\' experience in client relationship management
  • 7 years\' experience with managing and compiling budgets
Skills and Competencies
  • Comprehensive knowledge of LTL, FTL, truck brokerage, trucking assets, across all modes, including cross-border, managed transportation, and the current trucking marketplace
  • Highly developed organizational and people skills
  • Ability to build and maintain positive business relationships and function within a group dynamic
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain an in-depth understanding of the diverse needs of each client and assume ownership of growing the business
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and prepare analytical reports
  • Good communication skills are essential
  • Ability to create collaborative engagements and active listening
  • Service oriented and able to resolve customer grievances
  • Strong interpersonal skills, building professional relationships internally and externally
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task, plan, prioritize and manage time effectively to meet goals and achieve results
  • Both a team builder and a team-player
  • Excellent negotiation and time management skills
  • Proven track record of significant growth in Gross and Net revenue

Language and Computer Skills
  • English is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations (French a plus)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment
  • High Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • CRM (MS Dynamics) and BI (MS Power BI) proficiency a plus
  • 3rd party supply chain technology offerings
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer
  • Regular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.
