Management Analytics is an integral part of CPP Investments with the objective of evaluating how we generate incremental returns and manage our existing resources. It represents a management capability that can help us, over long horizons, iteratively improve the Fund\xe2\x80\x99s long-term investment performance.

As part of the Management Analytics group within the Finance department, the Business Intelligence (BI) team will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the company\'s BI strategy. As part of this strategy, the Managing Director, Business Intelligence, will recommend and implement the BI lifecycle process (from data management to automated reporting processes), develop strong governance and controls to ensure the accuracy and relevancy of information produced by Finance, and recommend BI reporting tools that are fit-for-purpose. In the process, this individual will collaborate with our technology partners in transitioning existing legacy BI tools to new processes and tools in CPP Investment\xe2\x80\x99s technology ecosystem.

This role will collaborate with cross department leaders to demonstrate how data and analytics can improve both investment decision-making and operational performance. This individual will have a strong background in data analysis, visualization, and reporting, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify key business objectives and develop data-driven solutions to support decision making at all levels of the organization.

Major accountabilities:
  • Design and implement the Business Intelligence Strategy by recommending a long-term plan to re-platform the existing legacy data management processes into automated and integrated data processes.
  • Oversee the collection, integration, and analysis of data from various sources, including internal and external systems, which will lead to better integration of data processes across the organization and efficient consumption of data for analytical needs.
  • Design and implement dashboards, reports, and other visualizations to support data-driven decision making. Advise Management Analytics leadership team, and recommended strategies and priorities around in-flight initiatives and reports to be developed.
  • Design effective data management controls that ensure the reliability of data and insight delivery to end users. Implement automated processes for data reconciliation across book-of-record systems and sub-ledgers.
  • Collaborate with key business partners to define data governance documentation across our key measures of performance, cost and exposures.
  • Support a culture of self-serve analytics, measurement, accountability and data driven decision making.
  • Drive the delivery and adoption of a robust, reliable, automated reporting and data platform that empowers and informs all areas of our business.
  • Be an active and influential voice of data driven change; a proactive partner with senior management in making critical, data-driven decisions.
Qualifications
  • Ability to deeply understand data and socialize the relevant insights and takeaways more broadly and influence business decisions and priorities. You must develop the team\'s ability to do the same at scale.
  • Experience leading and collaborating with Data Science and Data Analytics teams.
  • Ability to serve as advisor on the process of determine the relevant success metrics and KPIs that will serve to measure outcomes once reports are productionized.
  • Beyond a strong analytical foundation, possess good business judgment, a collaborative spirit, a curious and open mind, and a talent for clear and concise communication.
Education and experience
  • 10+ years of experience in senior roles in the data science field.
  • Build and manage high-performing, innovative analytics and business intelligence teams by hiring, coaching and retaining top talent that is well-versed in data, advanced analytics, data strategies and reporting.
