Summary of responsibilities


Reporting to the Director, Substance Use Health, Adult Mental Health and Youth Hub Programs, the Manager, Withdrawal Management & Geriatric Mental Health Services provides leadership and direction for Community Withdrawal Management, Geriatric Mental Health, as well as supporting other services including System Navigation, Concurrent Disorder, and Access/Intake programs. The Manager is responsible for monitoring the budget of the programs and is directly accountable for clinical and administrative supervision of all clinicians and administrative staff in the programs. The Manager is accountable for the quality of services and for ensuring the programs operate within a best practice approach. The Manager is required to participate in local and provincial committees, including Ontario Health initiatives that promote mental health & addiction supports within the community.


Requirements of the job


Master's Degree (MSW, Master's in Counselling, other related Health care discipline) Registration with a College that is authorized to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy Minimum 5 years' extensive clinical experience in the treatment of Addiction, Mental Health and Concurrent Disorders Supervisory experience in a clinical setting Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation on a regular basis Functional proficiency in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French - and testing completed)


Assets:

Previous supervisory/management experience of an inter-professional team in a unionized environment

Key skills or competencies


Completion of directed learning in providing clinical supervision Familiarity with key legislation and salient publications such as the Ontario Mental Health Act, Roadmap to Wellness, Moving on Mental Health. Familiarity with Health Quality Ontario Quality Standards related to the treatment of addiction, mental illness & concurrent disorders Knowledge of the issues affecting individuals, families, caregivers and communities (e.g., poverty, unemployment, stigma, isolation) Demonstrated clinical and administrative leadership skills Demonstrated knowledge of the needs of persons with addiction, mental health and concurrent disorders living in the community Knowledge of community services and the ability to foster effective service linkages and partnerships Ability to hire, train, supervise and retain qualified staff Ability to lead and coordinate a multi-disciplinary team Ability to work with agencies, hospitals and the broader community Ability to prioritize needs and organize work efficiently Knowledge of information management and evaluation activities Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and relevant electronic medical records system
