Rogers is seeking a Manager, Wireless Field Operations, GTA East to joing the Access Networks Team. Reporting to the Director, Central Region Network Operations, Access Networks, this role manages the daily operation and maintenance of Rogers Wireless networks in GTA.

What you will be doing:

  • Primary responsibilities for this role are to fully support our wireless network sites in Central region.
  • Working within the Network Access Operations Management team and supporting a broader group of Access Networks teams across the Central Region, your responsibilities include:
  • Leading a highly skilled technical workforce supporting Rogers networks throughout the province
  • Accountability for capital and operating expense budgets at a site and district level
  • Troubleshooting and restoration of network services on a 7x24 basis within MTTR objectives
  • Supporting the implementation of new projects and capital build programs
  • Scheduling technical resources for the provisioning and acceptance of new network elements and sites
  • Collaborating with Planning, Engineering and Implementation teams to achieve regional build targets
  • Accountability for site maintenance, security and infrastructure at network locations
  • Defining and carrying out preventative maintenance routines to ensure stability and performance
  • Maintaining a balanced inventory of spare equipment to meet objectives
  • Ensuring readiness and viability of the business continuity plan and executing disaster response
  • Ensuring engagement and skills development of team members to stay at peak performance
  • Monitoring staff and network performance to ensure effective and efficient business processes
  • Managing vendor performance and 3rd party relationships for site and network maintenance
  • Performing and complying with audits to ensure security and access authorizations are owned and maintained
  • Promoting a safety-first culture, managing risk, training and PPE needs and auditing for compliance
  • Providing staff development and succession planning for incoming workforce and existing team members
  • Ensuring staff alignment with corporate and regional objectives within the performance management process
  • Travel for business needs to support staff and network assets (up to 25%)
What you will bring:
  • Previous experience in telecommunication
  • Experience across several functional areas within telecommunications
  • People management experience would be an asset
  • Leadership qualities including one or more of:
  • Ability to work effectively as a team leader
  • Experience in coaching and developing a technical workforce
  • An ability to communicate business needs effectively to multiple audiences
  • In-depth knowledge in several technical areas including:
  • 2G/3G/LTE/5G Wireless networks
  • Fibre facilities linking access locations
  • Microwave transport
  • Performance of RF environments
  • DC power, mechanical and civil infrastructure
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven analytical, problem solving and organizational ability
  • Excellent computer skills and a proven ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Highly motivated and adaptable
  • Post-secondary education in telecommunications or related field
