Purpose





The Manager, Total Rewards reports directly to the Director, Total Rewards and People Analytics.



As a member of the Total Rewards sub-department, this role is part of the team which plays a pivotal role in attracting and retaining top talent through a competitive, strategic total rewards program that reflects our organization's core values, objectives and philosophies. The Manager, Compensation and Benefits, plays a key role in delivering innovative, competitive, and cost-effective compensation and benefits programs that are valued by our employees.



This role works closely with the Senior Leadership, employees, and a wide range of internal and external partners in the delivery of programs and services.


Key Responsiblities




Design and implement Total Rewards Programs:




Leads all compensation and rewards related processes and programs, including job leveling, pensions, pay decisions, training, and other ad-hoc projects.

Actively participates in the development of a comprehensive, competitive compensation and benefits strategy in alignment with the company's objectives, initiatives, and budget guidelines.

Along with the Director, Total Rewards, leads the global annual salary administration/merit budget/variable compensation pay planning process; develops and recommends appropriate administrative procedures and communication tools to ensure a smooth and transparent process including but not limited to:


o Year End process support



o Supporting the overall planning and execution of the annual global compensation cycle



o Working with the People and Culture (P&C) Business Partners to ensure full support and information is in place for the business lines



o Auditing and clarifying data and reporting structures in time for year end


Supports with the development and implementation of compensation guidelines/policies and programs that support the business strategy and that enables it to attract, retain and motivate talented employees.

Provides advice to Senior Leaders, Managers and P&C Business Partners on pay decisions and salary treatment for promotions, transfers, policy and guideline interpretation, and job evaluation, including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs.

Performs regular market and internal analyses to ensure competitiveness and equity of our compensation and benefits programs.

Monitors the effectiveness of the total rewards programs recommending plan revisions as well as new plans that are cost-effective and consistent with external trends and company objectives.

Initiates various analysis projects and the design of new or special compensation programs to address particular market and business needs or as directed by Senior Leadership.

Partners with external vendors as needed to conduct market research and benchmarking analysis.

Participates in approved salary surveys through the collection and reporting of data to third-party survey providers. Reviews salary survey results and provides recommendations on additions/deletions of benchmark jobs in use, and updates to salary ranges.

Reviews requests for job level review and makes recommendations.

Documents the production of all compensation programs and processes for P&C team's reference.

Supports and consult with Talent Acquisition in salary recommendations/offers.

Keeps the team apprised of national, provincial/state and local compensation and benefits laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.

Conducts Manager training and provides support as needed relating to total rewards programs.

Spearheads compensation communication development and delivery, as required.



Benefits Administration:




Maintains overall supervision of the Company's global employee benefit programs and ensures compliance with federal, provincial/state and local laws and regulations.

Manages and supports overall administration of all local and global benefit plans, including the annual benefit renewal process, and recommends cost controls and enhancements.

Along with Director, Total Rewards, oversees the Employer Retirement Savings Matching plans (RRSP, UK Pension, 401K) including consultation with brokers on plan changes and administration.

Supports the administration of Executive Benefits.

Participates with Senior P&C Leaders in the development of benefits strategies in relation to overall Health and Wellness strategy to ensure program alignment with business strategy, values and budgets.

Partners with local and global brokers to design, plan and manage the implementation, communication and administration of company-wide employee benefits programs such as health insurance, life and disability, retirement and other related benefits plans.

Partners with brokers to determine best vendors and service providers in each aspect of Health, Welfare and Retirement Savings offerings and administration.

Continually evaluates internal and external administrative processes. Audits and streamlines benefit processes/communication/administration.

Works with accounting and payroll to ensure accurate administration and reporting of benefits costs.

Reviews cost and usage rates of existing benefit programs to assess actual and perceived value in consultation with the business and benefit brokers.



Disability Management:




Acts as the key contact for non-occupational claims in partnership with P&C BPs and/or external third-party partners.

Prepares written communication with health service providers to clarify employee functional capabilities and obtain prognosis to support accommodation planning.

Supports employee engagement by facilitating timely, safe, and productive return to work, stay-at-work, and workplace accommodation plans. Monitors and recommends adjustments as needed.

Engages appropriate third-party providers to support health, safety, and ability management processes.

Collaborates with P&C BPs to provide information and education to leaders, and employees on attendance and ability management, duty to accommodate, and legislative responsibilities.

Recognition, Perks and Wellness Programs:




Supports the Director, Total Rewards and Analytics on execution of ongoing / new recognition and wellness initiatives with the end goal of promoting ongoing employee engagement.

Proactively researches, ideates, and presents plausible recognition initiatives that are aligned with RM's purpose and values.



P&C Metrics & Reporting:




Oversees and manages annual Total Rewards Statement production and delivery in collaboration with internal staff and external consultants.

Leads and produces Total Rewards relayed dashboard / metrics and provides support on analytics for P&C and other regulatory reporting.

Conducts extensive ad hoc analysis, as required.



Qualifications




Education / Certification / Licenses




Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field; preferred.

Working towards a relevant designation (Certified Compensation Professional (CPP), Certified Benefits Professionals (CBP) etc.); is an asset.

Master's Degree or Compensation/Benefits Certifications is an asset.

CPHR is an asset.



Experience




3-5 years' of Total Rewards functional experience preferably for a multi-site, multi-country organization.

Experience working with HRIS systems.

Experience in developing compensation strategies for top talent, highly specialized positions and/or for market competitive industries.

Work Environment




Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Corporate Office - Vancouver based; hybrid role with a minimum 3 days / week in the office.



Compensation





The base salary offered for this role is $92,000 to $112,000 per annum and can vary based on job-related expertise, qualifications, experience and internal equity. Eligible for Armstrong Collective's discretionary bonus program.
