The principal purpose of this position is to provide support to the Director, Sales Tax in fulfilling the compliance and technical support functions with respect to GST/HST and Provincial Sales Taxes for the Bank and all of its Canadian Subsidiaries.
Key Accountabilities:


  • Preparation and timely completion of the Sales Tax returns for the Canadian Subsidiaries as assigned by the Director, Sales Tax.
  • Coordinate with the accounting teams and business contacts to compile the information required for the sales tax return for the Bank and Canadian Subsidiaries.
  • Support with the implementation of the Sales Tax automation for Bank and Canadian Subsidiaries.
  • Assist the Director- Sales Tax in (i) providing advice to the business units on sales tax implications of new products and services, and (ii) reviewing transactions with external suppliers to ensure the transactions are completed in a sales tax efficient manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of GST, HST and PST legislation, jurisprudence and government assessing practices to understand the potential impact to the Bank’s operations and to pro-actively communicate these changes.
  • Assist Director- Sales Tax in managing Sales Tax audits conducted by the tax authorities of the Canadian Subsidiaries.

Experience / Education:

  • Education – A Chartered Professional Accountant designation is desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years experience in Commodity Tax. Experience in Tax Technology transformation will be considered an asset.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong accounting, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with overlapping deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Power BI
