The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day activities of the company's purchasing and logistics teams. This role oversees the procurement of raw materials, consumables, and services required to support manufacturing operations, while ensuring raw material inventory is effectively managed. In addition, the Supply Chain Manager will direct logistics operations including freight arrangements, import/export documentation, and third-party warehouse coordination.
Working closely with the Supply Chain Planner, this role will also help manage the movement and availability of finished goods inventory across three company-owned manufacturing/distribution facilities and five third-party warehouses in North America.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong procurement, logistics, and inventory management expertise, capable of driving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service excellence in a complex supply chain environment.
Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Procurement

Manage the purchasing team responsible for raw material, consumable, and service procurement.
Ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials to support production schedules.
Maintain optimal raw material inventory levels while minimizing working capital.
Manage supplier performance, quality, delivery, and pricing to achieve cost, quality, and reliability targets.
Negotiate key supply agreements and support sourcing initiatives for strategic materials or logistics providers.
Collaborate with manufacturing and product development teams to align purchasing strategies with production and design requirements.
Logistics & Distribution

Oversee logistics operations, including domestic and international freight arrangements.
Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and required documentation.
Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to optimize transit times and costs.
Partner with third-party warehouses to ensure accurate inventory control and timely distribution.
Resolve logistics challenges and drive process improvements in transportation and warehousing.
Establish clear communication channels and standardized processes for shipping and receiving teams across all company and third-party warehouses.
Monitor logistics KPIs and drive continuous improvement in delivery performance and freight spend.
Inventory & Material Flow
Work closely with Warehouse and S&OP teams to maintain optimal inventory levels supporting production and customer delivery requirements.
Ensure robust material control processes are followed for receiving, storage, and shipping.
Identify and address slow-moving or obsolete inventory in collaboration with Finance, Sales, and Operations.
Collaborate with Finance on cost control, budgeting, and supplier payment issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with the Supply Chain Planner to align on finished goods movement, availability, and customer service requirements.
Collaborate with Finance on cost controls, budgeting, and supplier payment processes.
Support Manufacturing, Quality, Product, and Sales teams with supply chain solutions.
Collaborate across functions and participate in initiatives to streamline and improve Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash processes.
Serve as a key stakeholder representing purchasing and logistics functions in business transformation initiatives such as roll out of SharePoint or ERP enhancements.
Leadership & Reporting

Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance management of the purchasing and logistics teams.
Develop and monitor KPIs to track efficiency, cost, and service performance across supply chain functions.
Report regularly to executive management supply chain metrics, risks, and opportunities.
Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among geographically dispersed supply chain teams
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
Identify and lead process improvements to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and strengthen supply reliability.
Ensure compliance with company policies, import/export regulations, and safety standards.
Champion a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement across supply chain functions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field.
Master's degree or professional certifications such as APICS/CSCP/CPIM are an asset.
7+ years of progressive supply chain experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Proven experience in procurement, logistics, and inventory management in a manufacturing/distribution environment.
Strong knowledge of international trade, import/export regulations, and customs compliance.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office;
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a focus on results.
Ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.
