Why is this role important:



Reporting to the Director, Strategy and Commercial Operations, the Manager, Strategic Procurement and Business Management is a key individual contributor providing procurement leadership, support and expertise in the areas of sourcing, price negotiations, and contract development for MediSystem's small to medium initiatives in procuring indirect goods and services to improve commercial opportunities. The individual is responsible for identifying value/savings opportunities, working closely with Loblaw Enterprise Procurement Group to handle the execution of the procurement process, and leading negotiations that result in positive internal and external relationships. In addition, the individual will support commercial operations initiatives and lead the pro forma process for RFPs and new business. This role requires an individual with a degree of ownership and initiative who is able to manage multiple competing priorities while fostering strong partner relationships in a fast-paced cross-functional matrix environment to continuous drive cost savings and efficiencies for the business.

What you'll do:



Lead cross-functional teams in the execution of procurement projects and designated departmental spend reduction and process improvement initiatives Handle and optimize supplier performance, including contract compliance, continuous improvement, innovations, and reduction in total cost of ownership Communicate with all levels of internal and external team members, partners, and vendors to ensure ethical and legal business practices Maintain collaborative relationships with third party supplier(s) while effectively resolving supplier performance/capability issues to ensure alignment with Medisystem, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Loblaw Companies expectations Establish commercial agreements and act as the key point-of-contact with Shoppers and Loblaw Enterprise Procurement Group to coordinate with Legal and business partners to develop and negotiate key contract terms Review, negotiate, handle, and implement a variety of contract documents Develop and sustain subject matter expertise regarding procurement standard processes, acceptable contract terms, applicable regulatory compliance requirements, third party relationship measurements, metrics and reporting Develop, enhance, and implement new and revised policies, procedures, and programs as required while communicating with the team Continually seek process or asset improvements to improve cost savings Business Support and Commercial Operations Drive the pro formal process by working with cross functional teams to ensure timely inputs, vetting all assumptions, and ensuring checks and balances are in place to inform executive decision-making on potential new business opportunities Participate in cross functional teams to support the commercial and strategic project priorities across the company Provide direction to partners on supplier capabilities and costing in support of improvement projects to reduce cost or increase operational efficiencies Building and leading diverse teams that foster a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging

What you bring:



Post-secondary education in Business or relevant field of study with strong business and financial competence 5-7 years of experience in sourcing and procurement with experience in leading and implementing RFx processes that drive cost savings Experience handling and negotiating with suppliers with proven experience in successful price negotiations Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to forge positive relationships and influence without authority in a cross-functional and multidisciplinary environment Self-starter with strong ownership and accountability, confident in independently leading and implementing procurement processes from start to finish with little or no supervision Strong methodological, quantitative and analytical skills combined with the ability to effectively present data-driven recommendations to Senior Leadership Effective and mature communicator, as well as receptive listening skills, able to convey complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing to various audiences Ability to take initiative in a fast-paced and changing environment, handle through ambiguity and be adaptable in setting and prioritizing work Data analytics and financial modelling skills Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio etc.) Understanding of pharmaceutical/health care industry a strong asset
