Passionate debates with your team, questioning the way things have always been done and designing unique solutions to match clients\xe2\x80\x99 commercial drivers with ingenious engineering are just a part of your daily routine. The Manager, Studies supports the execution and performance of studies within our Western Canada business, with efforts focused on the mining resources sector. You\xe2\x80\x99ll lead and manage the studies team, as well as actively being engaged in selective strategic projects. You will also support our overall business development efforts for creating and building a regional presence in Western Canada while leveraging off our extensive global experience and expertise. About the role

  • Responsibility for the overall performance of Study Managers and the portfolio of studies, including staff utilization, resourcing, accounts receivable, work-in- progress, budgets and profitability.
  • Reporting to the Director, Operations \xe2\x80\x93 Vancouver you will manage, develop and mentor the studies team with your leadership and guidance.
  • Leading regular reviews and audits of study timelines, budgets and resources to identify areas of concern and resolve issues.
  • Establishing and maintaining contacts with the technical manager / expert on client\xe2\x80\x99s side to understand challenges and proposed technical solution to our clients
  • Facilitating client discussions on technical solution matters through the proposal, bid, commercial negotiation and project execution phases.
  • Ensuring that technical solutions that are proposed and delivered to clients are fit for purpose and deliver the best possible outcome for the project.
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with management, clients, team members, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that study and project risks are adequately addressed and communicated to the leadership team.
  • Assisting in regional business development for the M&M sector by seeking out new opportunities through networking, referrals and market research.
  • For larger complex projects, responsible for reviewing execution plans to achieve project milestones and to minimize costs for several different project areas.




About you
  • University Degree in a relevant discipline such as Mining, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Chemical Engineering with at least fifteen or more years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in the mining industry with extensive knowledge of the regional market.
  • Significant people leadership experience and qualities.
  • Extensive experience in the development, delivery and operation of mining or mineral processing studies, NI 43-101 reporting and projects.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with Qualified Person capabilities as they relate to NI 43-101.
  • Previously worked on a client/owner`s team or been a study manager, area manager, engineering manager or lead engineer on several projects/studies.
  • An established contact network within designated market (base metals and minerals) would be a major advantage.
  • Excellent leadership qualities, written technical and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading high-functioning teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the region and internationally when required.
