What will your typical day look like?

As a Manager/Senior Manager of the Continuous Improvement Group, you will work directly with Audit Leadership across Canada to grow your understanding and development surrounding the design, implementation, and effectiveness of quality control procedures. You will provide independent and objective oversight to activities within Audit Leadership. You are a high performing problem solver, and have a keen eye for the technical, regulatory, and legal aspects of auditing.

You will be developing and leading the execution of monitoring activities to assess the operating effectiveness of quality control policies, procedures, and programs. You'll be working directly with audit leadership across Canada to gain an understanding of and solicit feedback on the design and implementation, and operating effectiveness of quality control procedures and programs. In addition, you'll be delivering findings and recommendations to program owners and obtain program owner's responses, and action plans to identify opportunities for enhancements in order to advance audit quality. You'll also have the opportunity to prepare presentations and reports for various audit stakeholders, leaders, and external regulators, as well as adhoc assistance in supporting various audit quality initiatives.

As such, it is important to ensure that a robust System of Quality Control is in place across the Deloitte organization - the consistent execution of high quality audits has never been more important. For that reason, the Continuous Improvement Group was established to provide independent, objective oversight activities to the Audit Leadership, Canadian Audit Quality Board (CAQB), and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL).

You are someone with:

  • Completed undergraduate degree in a business or accounting, and a relevant professional designation (CPA/CA or other equivalent accounting designation)
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of practical experience in the audit practice
  • Experienced with project problem diagnosis, solution development, facilitation of decision making, documentation, managing leadership expectations, and team leadership, committed to active mentorship, to coach team members to their highest potential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to deliver persuasive and convincing communication
  • Ability to grasp complex issues and distill them into clear and manageable priorities
  • You will have an interest in the technical and legal aspects of auditing combined with a practical approach
  • You will have a solid understanding of the audit business environment and enjoy interacting with various people at all different levels across Deloitte on a daily basis
