This is a permanent, remote opportunity, available to candidates Canada-wide. Preference will be given to candidates open to relocation to Manitoba.

Responsibilities:
  • Works in coordination with IT management to ensure security policies and procedures and key performance indicators (KPIs) for Information security and IT risk are implemented
  • Collects, correlates, and reports on operational KPIs as defined by the Information Security Office's IT risk management function
  • Plans for ongoing upkeep and maintaining currency of Security Operations Centre technology platforms, SOC processes, and other procedures as required
  • Provides operational and security leadership and direction to the following functions:
  • Identity and access management
  • Security incident response and recovery
  • Forensics and security investigations
  • Security event monitoring and integration
  • Security audit, compliance, investigation, and remediation
  • Monitors and coordinates resources to optimize customer service within the Cyber & Information Security Office, Information Technology department, and the Corporation
  • Leads vulnerability assessment and penetration practices starting from identification of the vulnerabilities to implementation of fixes
  • Contributes to and reviews Information Technology and business transformation work plans to prepare for potential service issues
  • Plans and budgets for SOC services. Works as a liaison with the Vendor Management department to establish mutually acceptable contracts and service-level agreements for the SOC infrastructure
  • Contributes to the development of departmental strategic, operational, and tactical plans
  • Responsible for the activities of a senior manager, including providing input into and management of an operating budget, participating in operational planning, budgeting for projects, and improvement initiatives
  • Manages onsite staff in the effective and efficient delivery of all SOC operational functions, ensuring day-to-day operational delivery, customer problem resolution, customer satisfaction, and ensuring service levels meet service standards
  • Assists the Cyber & Information Security Officer with the planning, management, and implementation of information security projects and initiatives to achieve target security maturity levels
  • Participates in corporate projects and initiatives and advises on all aspects of risk
  • Leads operational and strategic projects to progress security capability and maturity across the Corporation
  • Participates in process improvement and innovation initiatives. Identifies opportunities for improvement to achieve better service levels, assists in the implementation, and oversees to ensure consistency
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Business or Applied Science
  • 8+ years of related experience in the IT Industry
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience
  • 3+ are related to IT/Security operations management
  • Knowledge of business processes
  • Ability to lead and motivate technical staff
  • Goal-oriented, with a strong interest in measuring performance
  • Flexibility to relate to all levels of technical competency
  • Detailed understanding and experience with:
  • Managing operations staff of a medium-sized systems environment
  • Complex, multi-platform environments including technologies such as Wintel, VMware / virtualized environments, SQL, and Sybase
  • Information frameworks, such as the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (CobiT)
  • Completion of one or more certifications/designations (CISSP, CRISC, CISM, CSXP, etc.)
  • Insurance industry experience is an asset
