The Rites of Passage Manager is responsible for developing an African-centered Rites of Passage (ROP) Process for women of African descent. The program manager will utilize their ROP experience and expertise to oversee the program\'s development and implementation to ensure it aligns with an African-centered value system, and the organization\'s strategic priorities and meets the needs of the women of African descent. The program manager will serve as an advocate for the program and the women it serves, working to raise awareness of the unique needs of women of African descent and advocating for the resources and support needed to ensure their success.
What You Will Do

  • Initiates and develops plans and activities to further the strategic goals and objectives of the Homeward Bound Rites program at WoodGreen.
  • Develop and implement an African-centered Rites of Passage Process tailored specifically for women of African descent
  • Develop effective relationships with African Canadians and other community-based, cultural, community and social service organizations and sector partners to advance collaborative Rites initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the program\'s effectiveness through the use of appropriate metrics and feedback mechanisms.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters empowerment, growth, and healing for the women involved in the program.
  • Develop and implement an African-centered Rites of Passage Process tailored specifically for women of African descent.
  • Develop and implement evaluation metrics to track the program\'s success and make adjustments as needed to improve outcomes.
  • Work with the Director in developing and monitoring program budgets, ensure that internal resource is updated to support program functions
  • Responsible for representing WoodGreen Community Services on internal/external work committees as directed by the Unit Director.
  • Participate in regular supervisory sessions with the Youth Unit Director.
  • Participate in regular staff and unit meetings.
  • Consistently takes initiative, leads, advocates, promotes and prioritizes Rites internally at WoodGreen and externally.
  • Has demonstrated strong, effective, clear and proficient writing abilities.
  • Ensures proper, consistent and rigorous documentation and monthly, quarterly and annual reporting on all phases of Rites work
  • Possess the ability to effectively lead multiple and demanding Rites initiatives concurrently.
  • Performs other duties/special projects as assigned by the Director of Youth Programs and Supports.
What You Bring to the Team
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in social work, Education, or a related field- or relevant work experience.
  • 2 years of program management experience in a unionized, community-based, or social service environment or similar human services entity; or a combination of training, education, and experience is required.
  • Graduate of the Rites of Passage process
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with women of African descent and their assets and challenges.
  • Strong knowledge of diverse African Canadian communities\xe2\x80\x99 context, history, cultural and organizational resources, community developments and current issues.
  • Sound community engagement skills and established track record in this area.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the realities of women of African descent in Toronto and the public policy issues that impact them
  • Well-rounded understanding of African Canadian women\'s mental wellness issues and trauma/healing issues and approaches
  • Demonstrated experience in budget preparation
  • Strong performance measurement skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Capable of fulfilling the physical and psychological requirements of the job as outlined in the Position Demands Analysis with reasonable accommodation.
