As part of our ongoing journey, Southlake Health is looking for a knowledgeable and strategic Manager, Pharmacy Clinical Services to join our Pharmacy Leadership Team.



Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy, this role provides strategic oversight of clinical pharmacy services across inpatient areas and select outpatient clinics. This position will lead a team of clinical pharmacists and learners, ensuring the delivery of safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective care that meets Accreditation Canada and Ontario College of Pharmacists standards. As a collaborative leader, you'll work closely with physician partners and clinical teams to drive service excellence, innovation, and quality improvement.

Skills & Abilities




What You'll Bring

Expertise and best practice in pharmacotherapeutics and pharmacokinetics, with a strong commitment to patient centered pharmaceutical care. Strong knowledge of Ontario College of Pharmacists Standards of Practice, Accreditation Canada requirements, and the Regulated Health Professions Act. Broad clinical knowledge of disease states (e.g., diabetes, COPD, cardiovascular disease), medication dosages, formulations, delivery techniques, and routes of administration. Strong ability to interpret laboratory and clinical parameters to support patient assessment and monitoring. Proficiency in utilizing credible medical information resources, health system technologies, and distribution systems. Strong effective communication, teaching, documentation, and presentation practices. Understanding of third-party reimbursement strategies, patient and staff safety initiatives, health promotion, and disease prevention. Familiarity with complementary and alternative therapies, aseptic techniques, and extemporaneous preparation of pharmaceuticals. Experience in developing, implementing, and enforcing policies, procedures, and certification programs. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with sensitivity to multiculturalism in healthcare. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to critically appraise research, methodology, and study design to inform practice.

Qualifications



Registered Pharmacist, in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Part A). PharmD or master's degree in a health-related field, an asset. Completion of a Post-Graduate Pharmacy Residency Program (ACPR), preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an acute care hospital pharmacy. Minimum of two (2) years of progressive pharmacy leadership experience.

Primary Responsibilities




What You'll Be Doing:

Provide leadership in clinical pharmacy services, including support for formulary review, non-formulary drug monitoring, and special access requests in collaboration with program leaders. Represent Pharmacy on internal and external committees, teams, and projects (e.g., Smart Pump initiatives, Medication Reconciliation). Assess and allocate resources using data such as workload measures, productivity reports, patient acuity, and financial indicators. Lead human resource planning, including recruitment, hiring, retention, succession planning, and staff development. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and all applicable regulatory requirements. Build and maintain a motivated, cohesive team by supporting orientation, continuing education, and professional development initiatives. Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and formal evaluations to support staff growth and accountability. Promote a safe, positive work environment by managing attendance, fostering open communication, supporting morale, and addressing conflict constructively. Oversee scheduling, vacation planning, and day-to-day administrative activities. Champion change management and creates an environment that values innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Facilitate the development of staff to achieve advanced standards of clinical practice. Other related duties, as assigned.
