Manager, Pharmaceutical Reviews
Status: Full time, permanent
Location: Ottawa or Toronto, Ontario (hybrid)

Salary range: $103,148 to $124,811 per year CADTH is Canada\xe2\x80\x99s drug and health technology agency. We\xe2\x80\x99re a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Ottawa, with a satellite office in Toronto. We\xe2\x80\x99re funded by Canada\xe2\x80\x99s federal, provincial, and territorial governments, with the exception of Quebec, to provide independent information and advice to the country\xe2\x80\x99s publicly funded health care systems. Health administrators and policy experts rely on CADTH to inform their decisions about the funding and appropriate use of the drugs, devices, and services used to prevent, diagnose, and treat medical conditions. Most CADTH employees participate in a hybrid workspace arrangement that allows for flexibility and enhanced work-life balance. CADTH believes in the positive impact of in-person collaboration and the importance of team building. CADTH gives preference to qualified candidates who live near our offices and can participate in a hybrid arrangement. Primary Focus Canadian health care leaders trust CADTH for objective evidence appraisal of prescription therapies. The Manager, Pharmaceutical Reviews is responsible for the overall leadership and operational management of a multidisciplinary team who deliver comprehensive assessments to support timely health care decision making to Canada\xe2\x80\x99s federal, provincial (except for Quebec) and territorial health care decision makers. On any given day, the Manager, Pharmaceutical Reviews will be responsible for:
Operational accountabilities

  • implement program policies and procedures to ensure the effective, high-quality delivery of CADTH products and services, primarily as they relate to evidence reviews of pharmaceuticals
  • have the authority for final review and sign-off on CADTH reports for Director approval before being released to the client or public

People management
  • coach, counsel, and manage employees ensuring compliance with systems, policies and procedures
  • responsible for new hire onboarding, developing employees, promoting evidence-based practices, research, education and training
  • ensure alignment and achievement of work priorities, determining the allocation of staff skills and resourcing of reviews based on report requirements and complexity, to meet service delivery and scheduling time limits
  • communicate job expectations and plan, monitor, audit, and appraise productivity and job results

Leadership
  • provide operational leadership in the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of continuous improvement initiatives
  • evaluate current practices and program outcomes and lead quality improvement initiatives based on work priorities, business unit strategy, and goals
  • attend and lead relevant internal and external meetings to maintain awareness and to contribute to project deliverables
  • work collaboratively with other CADTH Business Units and stakeholders to promote CADTH products and high-quality standards.

Is this the right role for you?
The Manager, Pharmaceutical Reviews will likely have:
  • a graduate degree in a health-related discipline plus experience providing leadership to a team using effective management techniques (i.e., coaching, mentoring, skill and leadership development, decision making, coalition building, performance management)
  • broad experience and understanding of research methods, systematic reviews, pharmaceutical appraisals, development and application of health technology assessments, the Canadian health care system, relevant legislation, regulation and decision-making processes
  • achievement-orientation with demonstrated ability to think strategically, understanding long term organizational strategy and vision
  • ability to provide inspirational leadership, creating a sense of direction and purpose for staff, momentum for change, and support in complex and demanding situations
  • ability to take an innovative and inventive approach to looking at organizational priorities and opportunities, take responsible risks and a drive for results and efficiency.
