Position Summary
The Manager of People & Health & Safety will lead GRIT's human resources and health & safety functions, ensuring compliance with legislation, fostering a culture of safety and respect, and supporting employee development and engagement. This role is pivotal in aligning HR and safety strategies with GRIT's operational goals and values. This role offers work flexibility; however, the candidate is preferred to be in the office the majority of the time.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Leadership
Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs aligned with GRIT's strategic objectives.
Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives, including inclusive hiring practices and accommodations.
Manage employee relations, performance management, and professional development.
Support leadership development and succession planning.
Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with employment legislation.
Health & Safety Management
Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of GRIT's Health & Safety Policies.
Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
Ensure compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant regulations.
Lead the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) and coordinate safety training programs.
Promote a proactive safety culture where employees feel empowered to report hazards and near misses without fear of reprisal.
Strategic Integration
Collaborate with leadership to align HR and safety initiatives with business goals.
Prepare reports and metrics for senior management and regulatory bodies.
Represent GRIT in external HR and safety forums and programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
CHRP or CHRM designation preferred.
Minimum 5 years of progressive HR and/or safety leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of Ontario employment and safety legislation.
Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
Experience with WSIB Health & Safety Excellence Program is an asset.

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
