The Town of Faro is a safe and vibrant community nestled amidst the spectacular mountain views of central Yukon. The Town is adjacent to the Pelly River and offers affordable housing, extensive recreation opportunities, along with an enviable Yukon lifestyle.
Reporting directly to the CAO, the Manager of Recreation and Culture will be responsible for managing all aspects of Recreation and Cultural programing, facilities, and staff in the Department. The Town's facilities include a Recreation Centre (with gymnasium, youth lounge, kitchen, weight room, meeting rooms, seasonal swimming pool, and squash court), an Arena, four playgrounds, two baseball fields, a skate park, the Campbell Region Interpretive Centre (which is the Town's seasonal tourism and cultural facility), an RV Park, an Arboretum, a Cross-Country Ski Chalet with adjacent trails, two Sheep-Lookout cabins and many kilometers of multi-sport trails. The ideal candidate will have excellent organization and communication skills, supervisory experience and a passion for creating events and activities that serve the community and tourists to the area.
What we are looking for is a candidate with:
Certification, training and/or experience in the Recreation and Culture fields
Previous supervisory and management experience (2+ years), is desirable
Ability to develop, implement and evaluate recreation and cultural programs and maintain high-quality public communication and consultation skills.
Current First Aid / CPR certification, is desirable
Class 5 Yukon Driver's Licence, and either have or be willing to acquire Class 4
Experience communicating with the public and working with councils and committees.
Knowledge of Safe Work legislation and implementing safe work practices into the workplace and the ability to work effectively within a union environment.
