The Manager of Operations supports the functioning of Atlantic School of Theology by giving support to facilities, human resources, information technology, and student support services. AST's mission is to shape faithful and effective leaders and understanding among communities of faith. The Manager of Operations will contribute to the fulfillment of this mission by ensuring smooth operations of the university, working closely and collaboratively with staff, the student union, and the president's office in the carrying out of their duties.
Responsibilities
Provides management for staff in the facilities department (including student residence) and external contractors as necessary
Works with IT staff and partners at Saint Mary's University, manages the technological needs (hardware and software) for the university
Supports student services, oversees the operation of provincial student support programs, and provides staff support for the AST Bursary Committee
Provides human resource functions, including support for hiring, onboarding, and review procedures for non-faculty staff, tracking vacation and sick time, and monitoring and updating HR policies and information
Supports the accessibility work of the university, tracking compliance with regulations, serving on the EDIA Committee, and liaising with other post-secondary institutions
Experience
An undergraduate degree or a community college diploma in business administration
A minimum of 3 years of management experience in a business or non-profit setting
CPHR certification or other human resources certification, or equivalent experience
Required Skills
Effective time management and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication ability
Strong social and emotional intelligence, with a proven track record of building positive working relationships with others
A proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Maturity with discretion and judgment in handling confidential information
Strong computer proficiency, including Windows, Zoom, and the full Microsoft Office Suite
Familiarity with post-secondary education and/or at least one of AST's founding parties (United Church of Canada, Roman Catholic Church, Anglican Church of Canada) is a significant asset.
