The Indigenous Consultation branch plays a key role in Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure by:


Planning, development and implementation of policies and procedures on matters related to the Departments relationships with First Nations, Metis, Inuit, and other Indigenous communities and groups. Planning, leading and directing the Departments Crown-Indigenous consultation and engagement activities with First Nations, Metis, Inuit, and local Indigenous Communities. Leading and supporting the building of relationships/partnerships with Indigenous peoples, groups, and communities with the goal of supporting the advancement of truth and reconciliation.

Qualifications:


Essential:




Post secondary education or related experience in policy or reconciliation. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience working with Indigenous, northern and remote communities. Knowledge of Indigenous organizations and issues affecting Indigenous peoples. Experience in planning, coordinating, and managing complex projects and/or initiatives. Experience leading and managing sensitive discussions and negotiations involving internal and external partners. Supervisory experience with the ability to build and lead a team. Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to draft briefing notes, submissions, research papers, ministerial correspondence, consultation reports and other communication materials. Exceptional listening and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver presentations to large audiences. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and partners. Excellent political acumen skills demonstrated through providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues. Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to priorities and meet deadlines.

Duties:


Reporting to the Director of Indigenous Consultation, the Manager of Indigenous Services is responsible for the coordination of staff and the engagement and consultation programs for Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure. The incumbent provides advice and support to the Indigenous Consultation Branch with respect to Indigenous engagement activities associated with projects requiring proponent engagement. This position is responsible for developing and recommending policy to senior management and will represent the Department at public and industry meeting and hearings.
