Director of Community Wellness
. While the Director provides strategic vision across health, housing, and justice, the Manager leads the day-to-day operations of all housing and justice programs, ensuring they remain responsive, culturally grounded, and trauma-informed.
This includes oversight of
transitional and affordable housing programs, housing outreach and navigation, reintegration support, and justice initiatives
that focus on prevention, intervention, and community reintegration. Working alongside the Director of Community Wellness and peers across Core Services, this role helps braid housing and justice supports into a holistic system of care that honours Indigenous self-determination and collective well-being

What You'll DoProgram Oversight & Service Delivery
Provide leadership for all housing and justice programs, ensuring culturally safe, trauma-informed delivery
Oversee transitional and affordable housing programs, housing outreach, and reintegration supports through both inreach and outreach justice initiatives
Ensure services are responsive to the needs of individuals and families, grounded in respect and dignity
Work with the Director of Community Wellness to identify service gaps and co-develop new initiatives
Support harm-reduction approaches and restorative justice practices rooted in Indigenous teachings
Work with First Light's Management team to ensure services are collaborative across the organization , and aligned with our Strategy Wheel.
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise and mentor coordinators and frontline staff using circle-based approaches that emphasize kindness, reflection, and accountability.
Lead team meetings that emphasize reflection, shared learning, and problem-solving
Foster a supportive team environment grounded in Indigenous values and relational accountability
Promote ongoing professional growth and wellness among staff
Community Engagement & Partnerships
Build authentic relationships with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and people with lived and living experience
Strengthen partnerships across housing, justice, and social support sectors
Advocate for culturally grounded, Indigenous-led approaches in system-level conversations
Represent First Light at community tables, justice forums, and housing networks
Program Evaluation & Improvement
Monitor and evaluate housing and justice programs using feedback, reflection, and data to guide ongoing learning and improvement.
Integrate culturally grounded and trauma-informed practices to enhance accessibility, safety, and impact.
Collaborate with the Director of Community Wellness to strengthen evaluation frameworks that reflect both community voice and Indigenous ways of knowing
Budget & Resource Stewardship
Support budget planning, tracking, and resource management within housing and justice programs
Monitor occupancy, staffing, and operational needs to ensure program sustainability
Contribute to funding proposals and reports that strengthen the long-term impact of the portfolio
Skills, Experience, and Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must have:
Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and traditions, with a deep commitment to cultural safety, relational care, and community well-being
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Indigenous Studies, or community development or related field; equivalent lived experience will be considered
Experience in program leadership, team supervision, and service delivery within housing, justice, or social services
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide staff
Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and community engagement
Experience managing budgets, reporting, and resource allocation
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
First Aid/CPR certification; ASIST or TCI training is an asset

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
