Heartache2Hope (H2H) is a leader in suicide loss grief support services. We offer a continuum of supportive services focused on helping individuals heal after a suicide loss while building resilience and recreating a fulfilling life. Our services include both Individual and Group Supports with Professional Counsellors and Peer Supporters. A Halton-based organization since 2014, we are a small organization with consistent yearly hypergrowth that now serves clients across Ontario.
We are seeking a Manager of Development to lead fundraising and stewardship, helping to ensure our organization can financially sustain annual growth for the long-term. A keen relationship builder and engaging presenter, the Heartache2Hope Manager of Development will be an integral part of the leadership team.
Job Purpose
Building on the success of our Annual Walk2Remember fundraising event, the Manager of Development is responsible for identifying, cultivating, securing, and stewarding a portfolio of foundations, corporations, community-based service organizations, and individual donors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Achieve annual fundraising targets, as agreed with the ED and Chair of Engagement Committee
Develop targeted solicitation strategies, customized proposals, sponsorship packages, briefing documents and presentations to secure major gifts and sponsorships
Lead proactive research and ongoing prospect identification, taking responsibility to acquire new corporate, foundation, and community organization donors and upgrade/engage existing donors
Develop mission-driven fundraising events, initiatives, and their supporting materials and communications to donors to inspire participation and support with the support of H2H leadership team, board members, and fundraising committee
Lead on maintenance of donor management software and donor database
Develop and manage a donor relations program to deliver a gold standard acknowledgement, recognition and stewardship experience that bolsters affinity and loyalty
Prepare ROI measurement analysis and activation reports for sponsors and donors
Ensure accurate and complete tracking of all sources of revenue
Qualifications, Experiences & Skills:
Degree from a relevant university or college program; CFRE designation is an asset
Demonstrated experience and proven fundraising success with all aspects of annual fundraising and donor relations
Knowledge and experience of fundraising best practices and software
Strong relationship building and presentation skills, able to connect with public and private funding agencies and foundations, corporate sponsors and donors, granting bodies, government agencies, and individual donors to develop and cultivate partnerships and represent the organization
Must have excellent prospecting skills and proven ability to uncover potential leads and nurture existing donors
Must bring creative and actionable ideas
Excellent written and verbal communications skills; grant writing experience an asset
Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, including email marketing and social media engagement.
High level of professionalism, superior organizational and time-management skills, thorough and detail oriented, able to work independently
Able to work with a vulnerable group and navigate the sensitive nature of our services when promoting and representing the organization
Provide Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screenings.
Work location will include a hybrid of off-site (networking, various locations) and work from home. Candidates are expected to provide their own equipment to perform their duties such a laptop and phone. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to off-site locations as required for appropriate networking and donor recruitment/events. Hours will vary and may include daytime, evening, and weekend hours as required, with the primary hours being Monday to Friday, daytime.
