About The West End Seniors' Network (WESN):



WESN is a registered not-for-profit organization with over 1200 members, an annual revenue budget of $1.5m and 23 full / part time staff. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of older adults in Vancouver's West End by providing social, recreational, educational, and supportive programs and services that foster connection and inclusion in the broader community.

Job purpose:



The Clothes and Collectibles Thrift Store Manager is an integral part of the leadership team that collaborates to action our mission, vision and strategic plan goals. The manager leads the team in ensuring that the store is a welcoming atmosphere for the community, exhibits exceptional customer service, overseeing all operations of the store,

The main functions include but are not limited to:

Responsible for annual sales, revenue and expenses and budgeting. Managing and guiding a team of four staff members. Supporting the Assistant Manager. Collaborating with the management team. Establishes and maintains.

Duties and Responsibilities



? Maintain and nurture positive relationships with donors, customers and the community

? Oversee all aspects of cash handling: open and close shifts, cash out, reconciliations and bank deposits

? Set monthly sales and revenue targets

? Monitor sales and traffic trends within the store and in the industry

? Receive, sort, appraise, price, stock and monitor store inventory

? Oversee all aspects of merchandising including shop layout, displays, signage, seasonal changes, and promotions and events

? Keep the storage locker clean and well organized

? Maintain strong working relationships with businesses in Denman Place Mall, mall management and other organizations

? Attend mall merchants meetings and support events and promotion planning and execution

? Administer contracts

? Ability to evaluate changing needs of customer base and address.

? Manage and supervise staff team including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.

? Support the Assistant Manager in their responsibilities

? Develop and maintain volunteer position descriptions

? Track volunteer statistics

? With the Manager of Volunteers, oversee volunteer workshops and training opportunities, plan and implement volunteer appreciation activities

? Plan and implement monthly and seasonal marketing promotions, sales, and activities in conjunction with the Executive Director.

? Maintain, manage and update all social media for the store

? Respond to queries through social media channels

Qualifications



? 5 years experience in all aspects of retail sales, merchandising and marketing

? Education - certificate or diploma or equivalent (2 years post secondary education)

? Experience in managing staff

? Experience in recruiting, training and retaining volunteers

? Experience in merchandise appraisal

? Experience working with older adults with a range of physical and mental capabilities

? Experience with conflict resolution, defusing hostile situations, and problem solving

? A strong understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles

? Clean criminal record check

? 5 years experience in all aspects of retail sales, merchandising and marketing

? Clean criminal record check

Working Conditions



? Normal working hours are between 10 am to 7 pm Monday to Saturday

? Must be available to work some evenings and weekends

? Must be able to stand for long periods of time, climb ladders, lift boxes and bags of up to 50 pounds and handle repetitive motions

? Must be able to handle dirty, dusty, and/or disagreeable donations and products and dispose of appropriately
