The Parish of St. John's Truro invites application for the
Position of Cemetery Manager
Part-Time position
The position represents St John's Parish in the provision of client services to parishioners, funeral homes, the Truro Landscaping Company; it undertakes record keeping pertaining to the Terrace Hill Cemetery, 23 Church St. Cemetery, and the three country cemeteries of Kemptown, Londonderry and Clifton; administers third party contracts pertaining to the Terrace Hill Cemetery.
The approximate annual work hours are as follows:
fifteen hours per week for the period April to November.
two hours per week (eight hours per month) for the period December to March.
primary work location when meeting clients and maintaining cemetery records is Kaulback Hall, 23 Church St., Truro. Other hours may be scheduled for work from home and attending the cemetery sites.
a cell phone is provided for church cemetery business; a kilometer rate is set for personal vehicle use.
General Qualifications: Applicants must -

Be able to physically perform the duties of a Cemetery Manager including being licenced in the use of an insured personal vehicle for cemetery duties.

Demonstrate excellent organization and communication skills with proficiency in record keeping, use of the internet, word processing software and the creation of simple reports.
?
Experience in writing internal reports, reporting on work progress, calling for work quotes, evaluating contract quotes and monitoring work progress.
?
Experience in planning work in addition to constructive communication within a committee setting and a team work environment.
?
Develop a working knowledge of the applicable Provincial, Municipal and Church legislation affecting cemeteries.
?
WHMS training or willingness to obtain such certification.
?
Complete a Criminal Record check and a Vulnerable Sector check every five years.
?
Be knowledgeable about working in a Christian Church setting and respectful of the traditions and scheduling of Parish activity.
