The Business Development Manager will support the Rams by maximizing sponsorship revenues through relationship development and successful solicitations, as well as event management planning and ticketing strategies to maximize revenues. Duties include renewal and growth of existing Rams sponsors as well as solicitation of new prospects. Equally important, the role will lead on the stewardship and activation of these agreements. In season, the role will be responsible for Rams game day ticket sales and game execution.
The position reports to the President of the Rams Football Club.
The Business Development Manager will work with the Football Operation Manager who will support marketing initiatives, event planning and execution, content creation, and provide input for the Rams marketing mix. There is a requirement for the to work collaboratively with the Rams Executive; the University of Regina's Director of Sport, Community Engagement and Athlete Development; Varsity Sport staff and the University of Regina's External Relations and Student Affairs teams.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Business Development & Sponsorship Sales
Develop and manage a sponsorship strategy focused on net revenue growth for the organization
Manage the Rams prospect & sponsor pipeline
In collaboration with the Rams Executive and the University of Regina's Varsity Sport department, lead the identification, cultivation and solicitation of Rams sponsors and prospects
Steward and renew existing Rams sponsors with a focus on growth where appropriate
Increase net revenue through an activation program focused on ROI for the sponsors
Develop and maintain relationships with the Rams sponsors to ensure long-term financial support
Development of sponsorship packages, with the goal of net revenue increases.
Activation of all sponsorship agreements throughout the season and additional events as appropriate
Collaborate with the University of Regina's Varsity Sport department, External Relations and Student Affairs for the mutual benefit of both organizations
2. Season and Game Day Ticket Sales and Support
In collaboration with the University of Regina's Varsity Sport department, provide a strategic approach to increasing ticket sales revenues and increased attendance
Game day duties such as scripting, promotional times lines, music, promotions, intermission activity, ticketing, video, community programming, merchandise sales etc.
Work with the REAL team to ensure the game day event needs are in place
Track ticket sales and provide ongoing metrics to the Rams
Research ticketing options to provide ease of use for consumers as well as provide consumer information for Rams
3.
Responsibility: Event Planning & Management
Working closely with the Rams Board of Directors to support the success of the:
Sponsor Appreciation Event and Key Stakeholder hosting events
Rams Annual Sports Dinner
Rams Awards Ceremony
Other U of R events - UPC Challenge game, Presidents Event
Provide support and recommendations to the Rams Board to grow and maintain net revenues from existing or new events.
Collaborate with the University Regina on events such as President's Breakfast and Athletics Award night
Provide post event/season evaluation and reporting, as defined by the Rams Board of Directors
4. Responsibility: Marketing
Develop marketing strategies that enhance the image and reputation of the Rams as well as support increased attendance and ticket sales metrics. Alignment with the Rams vision and mission
Ensuring brand alignment is maintained with the University of Regina and Varsity Sport department brands.
Working with the College of Kinesiology and the Bookstore, enhance the image and profitability of Rams merchandise.
Update and maintain the Rams webpage. This position will provide all news related items for development and insertion of the web page.
Manage and maintain Rams social media accounts working collaboratively with University of Regina Varsity Sport department and external agencies as chosen/required.
Assist with external media relations as required.
Provide input and execution of a holistic marketing program which may include advertising, game day promotions, media relations, digital media, and fan engagement.
Participate in relevant community activities with the objective of enhancing the Ram's image and presence in the community, as well as, enhancing networks with perspective sponsors.
