Reporting to the Director of Parks and Recreation, the Manager provides strategic guidance and operational oversight to ensure safe, inclusive, and high-quality recreational experiences that support community well-being and active living. The role is accountable for staff leadership, facility oversight, service delivery, budget management, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with relevant legislative and safety standards. The Manager of Arenas and Aquatics is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of the City of Brantford's facilities and services, including management of arenas, pools, allocation of facility space, and staff management.

QUALIFICATIONS



Completion of a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Building Operations, Facility Management or other relevant education A minimum of five (5) years of previous facility operations management/supervisory experience in a unionized environment in a highly dynamic and diverse multi-purpose facility Demonstrated experience and leadership in a unionized environment, managing a large staff team including performance and project management, budget control, conflict resolution in a fast-paced environment ensuring exceptional customer service. Basic Refrigeration Certification Demonstrated success managing and operating complex recreation facilities and programs. The incumbent must have previous experience with the development of operating and capital budgets, and the ability to solve problems. Experience in delivering capital budget projects, RFQ and tendering Experience in dealing with community sports groups. Tact and diplomacy are required when interacting with the public and other contacts. Working knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel Proven track record in budget preparation, capital planning, and financial accountability Experience developing and managing inclusive, accessible programming for a broad demographic. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strategic thinker with strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and recreation software (e.g., ActiveNet). IMS 200 Certification or equivalent (ICS200) is considered an asset. Subject to course availability, certification must be achieved within the first year of employment. A valid Ontario Class G License and access to a vehicle is required Successful applicants must obtain a current First Aid and CPR Level C certification prior to commencing employment As a condition of employment, candidates must submit a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the last three months) from their local Police service for approval by the Corporation

WAGE/SALARY RANGE:

$57.87 to $72.34 per hour (based on a 35-hour work week) plus benefits
