Reporting to the Director Retail Dealer and Business Development, manages the Retail Business relationship between Canada Post and the Corporate office of one or more companies with national dealership agreements for postal outlets. The key objectives are to build the relationship with the National Retailer at both the senior management levels and with the Retail Business Managers and increase the National Retailer\'s participation in Canada Post\'s Retail system.

Job Responsibilities

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Manager, National Retailer Accounts.

  • Consults with the National Retailer\'s Corporate office on their strategies, and on Canada Post\'s Retail Business strategy; provides advice on specific marketing, sales and operational issues and on image and merchandising programs. Meets regularly on day-to-day issues with the National Retailer Area Managers and on a periodic basis with their senior executive levels.
  • Provides performance evaluation results to the National Retailers including: overall performance, sales, training, operating and financial control in private sector Retail outlets.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge about the National Retailer and their Retail Business.
  • Establishes a solid working relationship with Retail Business Managers to support the contracted relationship and ensure the efficient provision of services to all retail dealers;represents the interest of the Retail Business Manager and presents their concerns to their National Head Office.
  • Manages specific issues relating to national/regional retail dealers and prepares reports as required.
  • Implements Corporate Retail sales programs and where appropriate, recommends changes to Corporate Retail Sales and Merchandising in order to protect and expand the Corporation\'s business with its retail National accounts.
  • In conjunction with Retail Support and National Retailers, develops contingency plans for continuing service during labour or service disruptions.
  • Integrates the National Retailer\'s sales, marketing and advertising with their overall Retail Business Plans and strategies.
Job Responsibilities (continued)
  • Studies sales results and provides recommendations on product performance, market trends, market developments, opportunities and threats within a specified geographical area and identifies customer needs/requirements and product enhancements to Head Office Retail Sales and Merchandising.
  • Serves as a focal point for Retail sales; identifies issues requiring immediate action; works with speciality Head Office functions in the assessment and preparation of retail business proposals for presentation by Head Office Retail . Acts on the direction from the Director, Retail Dealer and Business Development to increase revenue opportunities.
  • Works with the National Retailer in assisting them to set the next year\'s revenue projections and targets. Monitors retail sales and operations performance and works with all Retail functions to develop remedial action plans and strategies when shortfalls are identified or opportunities develop.
  • Supports the National Retailer in their internal marketing and advertising programs and integrates Retail Business marketing and advertising programs to the benefit of both.
  • Works with the National Retailer\'s Capital Plan and with the Retail Network on all new outlet possibilities as well as outlet change proposals, including managing processes for opening and closing of retail outlets, relocation, redesign and outlet operator revisions.
  • Prepares an Annual activity plan to ensure that business goals and revenue targets are achieved; ensures the Annual activity plan meets objectives.
  • Contributes to the development of Corporate policies governing the development and operation of the private sector Retail Network.
Qualifications

Education
  • Completed post-secondary, preferably in a related field OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training
Experience
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant business development and management experience
  • Retail territory management experience preferred.

  • Excellent team building and leadership skills and experience
  • Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships
