We are looking for an experienced Manager, IT Solution Architecture & Operations to lead the development and execution of strategic IT solutions. This hands-on role will involve establishing IT architecture practices, driving solution design and implementation, and ensuring alignment with business goals. The ideal candidate will have expertise in IT management, solution architecture, and platforms like Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra Identity Management.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for assisting in the establishment of an IT Architecture practice, and the adoption of an architecture and standards methodology.
• Manages activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation.
• Reviews business context for solutions to company challenges as well as defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options, (which may include proof of concepts or prototypes) , selecting the most optimal option, and the development of a roadmap for the selected solution.
• Communicates the architecture to the stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with existing domain architects in the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures.
• Champions a structured approach to business application solutions.
• Directly assists in the development of a solutions architecture program including departmental roadmaps and project portfolios for IT systems architecture.
• Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the standards guidelines of technology solutions.
• Influences change to standards when necessary.
• Assists domain architecture team on solutions management and timing of financial spend for application solutions
• Supports the architectural aspects of all application projects in peer IT portfolios.
• Directs the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.
• Develops and executes solutions which further reduce the percentage of time spent on reactive work.
• Provides analysis of security protection technologies as necessary.
Strategy & Planning
• Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for end-user computing, databases, Exchange-based messaging, and collaboration solutions in conjunction with end-users and department managers.
• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to workstation and server builds, virtual environments, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Develop and keep current technology roadmaps for all systems required to operate a modern, optimized computing network.
• Develop and support junior staff in alignment and cooperation with the Director, Global IT
• Manage project work with the Canada IT team including resourcing, execution, and reporting.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
• Minimum of 10 - 12 years of experience related to IT Management or other information technology solutions architecture role
• Demonstrated ability to communicate the complexities of technical programs
• Proficiency with information technologies in a secure network environment
• Proven expertise in Microsoft Office 365, Azure, Entra Identity Management, Server 2019, 2022, Linux
• Proven experience migrating to O365, planning and migrating Azure workloads.
• Proven Team leadership experience
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2022 operating systems.
• Strong working knowledge of patch management and change control practices.
• Technical working knowledge of administrative, management and auditing tools (AD/Entra, Netwrix, Rapid7, Service Now)
• Technical working knowledge of Mobile Device Management systems such as Microsoft InTune.
• Experience in deploying and managing both iOS and Android devices in an enterprise environment.
• Working technical knowledge of current messaging and collaboration systems software, protocols, and standards, including Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint and Teams.
• Proven experience with Microsoft O365 and Azure administration
• Knowledge of industry best practices for e-mail privacy and regulatory compliance, routing, filtering, monitoring
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database management.
• Experience with high-availability design (failover systems and data replication).
• Previous exposure to server virtualization technologies such as VMWare.
• Ability to troubleshoot workstation software issues
• Experience with workstation deployment/imaging.
• Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
• Exceptional technical documentation skills
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
