Are you ready for the next step in your career? And interested in managing a team of investigators and analysts as they detect, evaluate and disrupt investment schemes? The Enforcement Division of the is hiring a manager in the Investigations Branch.

The Enforcement Division protects investors through timely detection, swift disruptions, careful assessment of complaints, thorough investigations, and vigorous prosecution of breaches of the Act, most commonly: fraud, making false statements, withholding crucial information, unregistered trading and advising, insider trading, and manipulating the price of securities. We also educate investors about the warning signs of fraud so that fewer of them fall victim to fraudulent activity.

As the Manager, Investigations of the intelligence, assessment and disruption team, you will work closely with the two Managers, Investigations that supervise case teams. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising the evaluation of complaints and tips
  • Encouraging innovative methods to detect and disrupt potential misconduct
  • Supporting covert detection measures
  • Approving additions to the Investment Caution List
  • Recommending case referrals
  • Directing the day-to-day operations of the team including recruiting, training, supervising and mentoring staff
  • Determining priorities and setting deadlines
  • Providing the Deputy Director with timely management information about team activities
  • Contributing to the Enforcement Management team meetings and initiatives
  • Participating, as requested, on committees and task forces relating to securities enforcement issues.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate has:
  • A degree in Finance, Accounting or Law and a minimum of ten (10) years' experience in securities or white collar crime investigations or a combination of education and experience to effectively do the job
  • Knowledge of securities legislation, administrative enforcement processes, securities market operations, investigative practices and evidence handling
  • Leadership skills
  • Sound judgement and excellent interpersonal skills, including in adversarial situations
Other assets
  • Law enforcement experience, preferably with covert experience
  • Knowledge of emerging assets, such as cryptocurrencies and non-traditional banking
  • Previous management experience
