Department Overview

Corporate Insurance Management is responsible for arranging risk-appropriate insurance, as required and where economically and strategically viable, to protect the Bank\'s businesses from adverse impacts of risk events. Such impacts are mainly financial but may also include a non-financial reputational component.

Along with procuring insurance or other similar risk transfer programs (including fronting arrangements and indemnity agreements) to offset the cost of risk, CI also manages claims and losses against the various programs.

CI also acts as a centre of expertise providing insurance guidance as follows:
Consultation during RFPs or contract negotiations to determine what constitutes risk-appropriate insurance and indemnity requirements for the specific types of products or services involved with a third party.
Participation in Merger & Acquisition activities as required throughout the various stages of a prospective acquisition or divestiture to ensure there is an appropriate strategic insurance response and to minimize the insurable risk impact on the Bank.

Job Requirements

Strong knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, insurance industry and risk management.

Subject matter expertise in property, casualty and executive risk insurance programs is an asset.

Previous experience in procurement and relationship management would be beneficial.

Proficiency in reviewing contracts and other legal documents.

Ability to navigate and leverage internal relationships and functional areas across the organization, with a proven ability to get things done through ambiguity.

Robust organizational skills with the ability to deliver on multiple priorities and the requests of multiple stakeholders in a fast paced and very dynamic environment.

Highly motivated self-starter, demonstrated excellence as a consensus builder and with the ability to stay resilient under pressure.

Proven ability to manage by positive influence and work effectively with all levels within the organization, including senior executives

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Information
Background in Strategic Sourcing, Project Management, or Risk Management functions is an asset

Manage and procure insurance policies to support various risk management programs (e.g. executive risk, casualty, property, etc.), ensuring favourable pricing and terms are negotiated for the bank. Includes vetting of insurance terms by Corporate Insurance Council (CIC) and adhering to finance authority levels prior to securing execution and delivery.

Gather insurance underwriting data to understand risk and Key specialties: litigation, complex claims, certificates, projects, security liaison, payment coordinator, technology.

Investigate feasibility of new coverages (e.g. Cyber, Mortgage Impairment, Earthquake Risk).

Submit excise tax exemption filing via Tax Dept. and complete other tax related requirements.

Complete regulatory assessment of policies and provide resolution to various Wealth & Wholesale entity boards.

Develop and present Annual Allocation of Program Costs to Business Segments / Corporate Finance.

Provide risk management consultation to key business lines such as SSG, Lending, Leasing, Marketing and Real Estate, to ensure adequate insurance requirements are built into contracts and internal policies.

Leverages SME for vendor Management however has an accountability to select & engage vendors specifically for the mandate under Corporate Insurance
