Position Overview:

The Manager, Insurance reports to the Sr. Director, Treasury and has responsibility over insurance renewals and claims functions. The successful candidate possesses technical expertise in insurance, strong analytical and communication skills and is customer-oriented.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Works closely with Third Party Administrators, legal counsel, and insurance brokers to oversee claim reporting and processing
  • Reports on claims trends and assists with sourcing materials from internal partners for claim discovery requests
  • Manages the Certificate of Insurance process, working with insurance brokers and external consultants to ensure compliance
  • Collects underwriting data from various internal partners for insurance policy renewals and responds to deliverables from Broker (Property & Casualty, Executive risk lines)
  • Assists with the insurance program renewal process by analyzing insurance program structures, historical claims data, and underwriting data to recommend structural and coverage changes based on industry best practices and exposures of the company
  • Manage payment of premiums and service fees to vendors.
  • Track and report on spend against budget, conducting analysis as required to evaluate performance
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external parties on general insurance inquiries (i.e. coverage and risk management issues)
  • Review vendor/client contracts and recommend appropriate types and levels of insurance coverage
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent
  • Experience in an insurance related position is preferredUS & Canadian experience a plus
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with process improvement is a plus
  • Must be flexible, organized and customer-focused to foster strong working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Understanding of Contracts (be able to find and translate the insurance and indemnification sections) is a plus
  • Familiarity with auto coverage, property, general liability, workers compensation coverage is preferred
