The Manager, Insurance and Annuity Sales Promotion adopts a customer-centric approach and works closely with internal partners, as well as external creative agencies, to increase sales effectiveness in the independent advisor channel.

Reporting into the Director, Insurance and Annuities Sales Promotion, the Manager is accountable for developing creative campaigns and sales ideas that help generate leads and communicate key messages for upcoming launches and promotions, as well as monitoring overall program effectiveness.

The Manager will develop promotional programs that help increase sales in multiple product categories including individual life insurance, critical illness insurance, annuities, segregated funds and other products (as they are developed) in the independent advisor channel. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for ongoing campaign performance reporting that captures key learnings, with a view to making recommendations that bolster product innovation.

Key Accountabilities

Marketing

  • Leads the implementation of campaigns for the National Account and Managing General Agency channels, developing product material and creating sales ideas based on advisor and client insights
  • Develops marketing and communication plans which support business objectives
  • Works alongside Product Management and Operations teams to develop game-changing, creative go-to-market programs that attract, retain, and gain more business from independent advisors
  • Develop sales support programs for regional business development teams, using traditional and digital marketing techniques, which help achieve the company's overall sales objectives
  • Works with cross functional teams to author and edit creative, provide feedback, approvals and, obtain business approvals (elements include but are not limited to - product and insurance planning literature, media plans, website content, digital ads, paid search ads, print ads, posters, brochures, e-newsletters, direct mail letters, telemarketing scripts, videos)
  • Establishes BMO Insurance as a thought leader on important topics, such as long-term care, retirement planning, and the generational shifts; leverages thought leadership to generate media attention and increase the effectiveness of product launches
  • Utilizes fact-based analysis to identify trends and evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and customer touch points
  • Contributes to marketing effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-term issues that need to be addressed.
  • Acts as a liaison between the business groups and enterprise marketing groups to align with enterprise-wide marketing process and objectives.
Campaign Management
  • Oversees the end-to-end project management for channel campaigns and support materials for the business development teams that may include emails, direct mail, outbound calling, etc.
  • Monitors progress against milestones, recommends and implements adjustments as necessary to meet business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure flawless execution of programs; impact and influence key business team stakeholders
  • Measures and reports performance of all marketing campaigns and assesses outcomes against goals (ROI and/or KPIs); develops and presents business reports and dashboards that detail results.
  • Recommends and supports development of operational budgets to ensure alignment with business objectives and to optimize marketing spend
  • Manages relationships with internal and external partners to ensure all creative materials deliver on the brief to achieve desired outcomes
  • Develops and implements short- and long-term plans/strategies, activation plans, schedules, budgets, communications, and tactical plans, as required.
  • Manages the relationship of third-party printing vendors and warehouse managers.

  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders and ensures alignment.
  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Monitors and tracks performance, and addresses any issues.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
  • Provides input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Coordinates budgets and reporting to track actual results vs budget.
  • Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting.
  • Leads/participates in the design, implementation and management of core business/group processes.
  • Acts as the day to day contact for vendors; supports the implementation, maintenance, and sustainment of vendor solutions.
  • Develops and implements short and long term plans/strategies, activation plans, schedules, budgets, communications and tactical plans, as required.
  • Monitors progress against milestones, recommends and implements adjustments as necessary to meet business objectives.
  • Oversees/coordinates the development and distribution of marketing solutions per assigned channels/media for campaigns, partnerships and special events/conferences.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with internal/external partners to include vendors and suppliers.
  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Knowledge
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in marketing, business, commerce or related field of study
  • 5+ years of marketing experience in a B2B and/or B2C channel
  • 5+ years of financial services experience with a preference for insurance specific experience
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience and/or managing cross functional teams
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Skills/Qualifications
  • Proven success developing go-to-market programs utilizing an integrated approach to promotion (i.e., print media, conference seminars, traditional and digital campaigns, etc.)
  • Extensive experience managing external relationships, including collaborative development, execution and measuring success
  • Expertise across all marketing disciplines, with experience in B2B, digital, social media and traditional channels
  • Proven project management and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task, as well as confidently and effectively lead a project team through timelines, prioritization, and collaboration
  • A solid track record of strong relationship management skills
  • Ability to leverage consumer/advisor insights and translate them into high-impact marketing activity
  • Experience with data analysis and interpreting results
  • Advertising and/or creative agency experience an asset
