RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Quebec - Sante (FRQS).
Position summary
Under the Research Informatics and Information Technology Division Director, the incumbent plays a vital role in collaborating with and providing support to the User community at the Research Institute of MUHC. He or she is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining cloud services, shared services, and platform solutions to address complex business issues and provide technical leadership for the research community. The ideal applicant will thrive in a highly collaborative workplace and actively engage in the development process.
This is an excellent opportunity for a manager with hands-on with cloud computing, platform management, and excellent technical design background, combined with outstanding interpersonal skill.
General Duties

• Act as a key trusted advisor and change agent to overall RI communities for platform design and computing needs,
• Liaise with different groups of researchers to ensure a high level of services,
• Work closely with peers, partners and stakeholders to drive and enable foundation capability for computing solution at RI-MUHC,
• Bridge with MUHC Information Service and research stakeholders to ensure solution viability and best practices within agreed governance,
• Analyze the feasibility of, and develop requirements for, new platforms and enhancements to existing systems, ensure the system design fits the needs of the users,
• Support Users to troubleshoot problems quickly and efficiently if required,
• Manage the technical specification of the cloud initiatives and platform design, including environment specifications,
• Participate in technical computing for research, and development to promote innovation within the infrastructure environment,
• Assist study teams with planning and technical issues,
• Prepare infrastructure proposals and papers,
• Provide support and technical assistance to research staff as well as all system users if needed,
• Approve detailed technical designs and, if required, update the technical documentation,
• Establish a network across the various related institutions,
• Act as a contributor in organizational cybersecurity strategy,
• Participate in user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality,
• Perform other related duties as required.

Education / Experience

• Degree in Computer Science, Information systems or other related fields,
• 4 to 5 years of technology experience with hands-on experience as a manager for Infrastructure and IT security team,
• Minimum of 4-5 years experience with team management and design for technologies services (Shared services platform, Cloud services, and IT security tools),
• Strong knowledge of security and open-source technologies,
• Experience working in DevOps, SecOps teams and ability to work in a dynamic, iterative development process,
• Experience with the Cloud and security practice,
• Knowledge and experience with Microservices architecture ecosystems such as container clustering and micros service mesh, Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Terraform, Ansible, Chef configuration management is an asset.

Additional information
Status : Full Time
Pay Scale : Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift : from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays
Work Site : Glen site/Downtown Montreal
