As the Manager, Health & Wellness - LTD, Health Projects & Support Services, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across Suncor's Long-Term Disability (LTD) claims portfolio and broader Integrated Disability Management (IDM) program. You will also oversee the delivery of key employee health initiatives, lead a team of clinical and project-focused professionals, and support quality assurance, audit processes, and escalation management within the Health & Wellness function.

Your role ensures seamless case management for complex health events, enhances employee well-being through evidence-based health projects, and drives continuous improvement in service delivery. You'll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and regulatory partners to ensure compliance, sustainability, and high-quality outcomes.
Minimum Requirements:10 years of progressive experience in disability case management, occupational health, or related health services roles Experience in managing LTD claims and disability programs in complex or unionized environments preferred Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or related clinical discipline (or equivalent experience) Certification in Disability Management (CDMP), Occupational Health Nursing (COHN), or equivalent designation is an asset Familiarity with managing health services in large industrial or resource sector organizations (Oil & Gas, Mining, Energy) is strongly preferred Advanced knowledge of Long-Term Disability plans, Short-Term Disability protocols, Workers' Compensation, and relevant legislation (e.g., Human Rights, Employment Standards, WCB) Strong ability to interpret medical information, communicate clinical insights, and lead multidisciplinary case planning Proven leadership skills, with experience developing and coaching clinical or project teams Highly organized and strategic, with the ability to manage competing priorities, sensitive information, and stakeholder needs Strong communication and negotiation skills, with an emphasis on diplomacy and advocacy Technologically proficient; familiarity with Cority, SAP, or similar systems is an asset

Key Accountabilities:
Long-Term Disability & Complex Case ManagementLead oversight of LTD claim management, ensuring timely, fair, and policy-aligned resolution of complex employee health cases Oversee and guide Employee Health Advisors in medical leave adjudication, case planning, and return-to-work coordination Act as a key liaison with third-party disability providers to ensure effective communication, performance monitoring, and case strategy alignment Ensure medically supported decisions by reviewing and interpreting clinical documentation, functional abilities, and workplace demands Monitor and assess IDM case progress, identifying potential delays, risks, and opportunities for improved outcomes Facilitate integrated transitional return-to-work (RTW) planning based on functional restrictions, prognosis, and operational feasibility

Health Project LeadershipSupports the development of health projects and implements standardized Health & Wellness programs in alignment with Suncor's policies, standards and guidance that meet or exceed government regulations Ensure alignment of all projects with current occupational health standards, mental health best practices, and regulatory frameworks Oversee a portfolio of health-related projects and initiatives focused on improving employee well-being, clinical outcomes, and workplace accommodation strategies

People Leadership & Operational ExcellenceProvide coaching, development, and performance oversight for a multidisciplinary team, including Employee Health Advisors, Specialists, and Project Managers Foster a culture of clinical excellence, empathy, collaboration, and innovation within the team Create and maintain process documentation, decision-making frameworks, and service-level standards

Quality Assurance, Audit & Escalation Management (Optional Scope Expansion)Implement quality assurance and file audit processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and excellence in IDM case handling Serve as the first point of escalation for sensitive, high-risk, or complex cases requiring organizational-level alignment Collaborate with Legal, Employee Relations, and Safety teams to manage intersections with Human Rights, labour relations, and workplace safety legislation Identify systemic issues and recommend continuous improvement strategies to reduce claim durations, enhance employee satisfaction, and manage costs

Location and other Key Details:You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs Requires sustained attention to detailed case documentation, employee communication, and project planning. May require occasional travel to operational sites or off-site vendor meetings Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
