The Human Resources Business Partner Manager (HRBP) leads a team of HRBPs who act as the first point of contact in providing primary front line end-to end HR services to a broad range of clients. Provides strategic consultation and services for HR programs such as recruitment forecasting and succession planning, talent and performance management, health and safety, employee engagement, conflict management, disability management and employee/labour relations. Leveraging a broad understanding of the business, partners with HR experts and regional leadership teams to develop and deliver effective, integrated HR solutions and programs aligned with the business strategy.

Job Responsibilities

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for Manager, HR Business Partner (field).

  • Leads, manages and develops a team of HRBP officers who act as primary points of contact for the implementation of various HR programs and initiatives to the client. Conducts ongoing performance coaching to identify needs for skills development and development plans. Acts as an HRBP to senior management client groups.
  • Fosters a collaborative work environment, where team members are engaged, motivated and committed to their mandate and objectives. Provides development opportunities for team members and ensures solid and effective understanding and alignment of individual and team goals with regional business priorities.
  • Consults and collaborates with HR experts to develop and resolve client HR business problems. Embodies and promotes the Corporate Leadership Behaviours and Values; and practices the leadership habits when dealing with all stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Identifies change management issues and works with the business leaders and HR centres of expertise to develop and execute change management strategies.
  • Analyzes the local performance of HR programs and works with HR experts and others in order to influence, develop or enhance enterprise-wide and/or customized solutions, programs, practices and policies.
Job Responsibilities (continued)
  • Works with business leaders and employee relations to align business priorities with labour needs, including consulting on high-profile or complex employee hires and separations. Develops the annual recruitment forecasts to meet operational needs.
  • Acts on opportunities to present timely HR solutions by developing and leveraging an understanding of national, regional, and local business goals, directions and plans as well as HR policies, processes and programs.
  • Provides guidance and support to the client groups regarding HR employment legislation and standards as well as the application of Corporate Policies and Programs including Disability Management, Labour Relations, Grievance and Arbitration, Health and Safety, Human Rights, WCB claims etc.
  • Drives HR processes in the region for employee performance improvements, talent retention, recruitment forecasting and succession planning.
  • Assist the client to prevent and resolve HR related issues at the earliest possible point by completion of first level resolution and brokers the assistance of HR colleagues and/or functional process and policy owner(s) when needed.
Qualifications

Education
  • University diploma in HR or related experience
Experience
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant functional experience
  • (If managing a team) 2 or more years' experience managing people
  • One or more years of experience in a unionized environment an asset
Other Candidate Requirements
  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs
  • (If managing a team) Excellent team building and leadership skills and experience
  • Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
