Are you a strategic leader with a passion for student success and academic program management? The Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy (JSGS) at the University of Regina is looking for a dynamic Manager of Graduate Programs to provide expert oversight and drive innovation.




The

Manager, Graduate Programs

, provides expert strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of managing the in-person graduate programs of the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy (JSGS) at the University of Regina (URegina) campus.




Reporting to the JSGS-Regina campus Faculty Administrator, the Manager is a leader and integral member of the Student Success Team, providing oversight of and expertise in all aspects of planning for and implementation of the School's in-person graduate programs and student services and support. The Manager participates in the development and leads the execution of programming initiatives and tracking of related metrics, ensuring alignment with JSGS strategic vision and goals and provides guidance on short- and long-term planning by identifying opportunities for program innovation and improvement.



The Manager mentors the JSGS Administrative Assistant-Student Services and works closely with the Student Recruitment and Events Coordinator to manage admissions and enrollment processes. This position collaborates with senior student services staff to solve emerging challenges and lead initiatives that benefit the JSGS community. The role requires managing complex processes, making discretionary decisions, and maintaining accuracy under shifting priorities. The Manager must be knowledgeable in FGSR regulations and student operations at both University of Regina and University of Saskatchewan as JSGS operates as one school on two campuses.

What You'll Do:

Graduate Program Management, Improvement, and Innovation;

This involves duties such as Research, participate in discussions to develop, and implement short- and long-term strategies to address the needs, responsibilities, and priorities of JSGS programming; making recommendations to the JSGS Leadership Team related to policy exceptions in all aspects of JSGS graduate program management; Stay informed about trends, innovations, and best practices in graduate program management and the Canadian educational landscape.

Graduate Student Learning and Engagement;

This includes duties such as providing advising and support to individual students and cohorts; communicating with students concerning progress towards completion of degrees; maintenance of student records; Acting as a resource and being the expert for all JSGS students regarding academic advising, resolving student issues, evaluation of student progress and policy enforcement and ensuring student success; Managing program delivery and planning activities, such as timetabling, cross-campus course registration, etc.

Strategic Recruitment, Admissions, and Enrolment;

This involves duties such as reviewing and assessing graduate student applications and making recommendations on acceptance or rejection to the JSGS URegina Admissions Committee (MCERT, MPA & MHA) and JSGS Joint Admissions Committee (MPP & PHD); Implement JSGS's strategic goals to align with the vision and goals of the graduate programs. Review and make admissions decisions on behalf of the Admissions and Scholarships Committee for the on-site MPA program, and graduate certificates; etc.

Scholarship Committee and Student Funding;

Manage the JSGS URegina students support funding, GSBF and GTA funding, as well as provide support to the Joint Scholarship Committee (JSC) for the six named JSGS awards; Perform other duties related to the administration of scholarships and funding.

Communication and Collaboration:

This involves duties such as collaborating with the Student Success Team staff across the school to align operations and facilitate joint initiatives across the two university campuses where appropriate related to the MPA, research degrees and certificate programs; proactively initiate improvement; anticipate and address emerging challenges; and promote appropriate and effective collaboration of the two campuses' operations related to joint programming; Establish and maintain partnerships with colleagues; Collaborate with others to identify and implement the initiatives required to strategically meet the objectives of JSGS.

Position Requirements

What You'll Bring to this Position:

A graduate degree in educational administration, public administration, or another relevant discipline, AND 5 years of experience, with increasing responsibilities, with academic program coordination in a post-secondary setting and a focus on administrative and organizational effectiveness Combination of education and experience may be considered.

Proficiency with institutional systems and tools such as Banner Modules, CASPUR Reports, UR Docs, Slate, and Degree Audit. Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to plan and act systematically and strategically. Ability to take initiative, lead change, and work independently while fostering collaboration. Capacity to manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic, complex environment. Experience supporting research-based initiatives and faculty-led projects, including familiarity with graduate program structures and compliance requirements.
Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 5 Salary Range $71,745 - $96,825 Annually Status Term Work Hours
Regular hours of work from Monday to Friday, approximately 8:15-4:30 occur, although flexible hours may be required at certain times of the year, for specific student events.
