The Manager, Franchise Operations supports 78 stores in the Your Independent Grocer and valu-mart franchise banners in Ontario. The position requires a high-profile performer to develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential franchisees. A key responsibility in this position is to present and educate the prospective franchisee on the franchise model and to coordinate the franchise administrative processes including new store set-up, preparation and presentation of the financial projections and business terms of the franchise deal. The manager will invest time and expertise to develop and grow the \xe2\x80\x9cBusiness Relationship\xe2\x80\x9d with franchisees to support improved performance on KPI\xe2\x80\x99s and business financial results.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for approximately 78 Market franchise stores in Central, South West and Northern Ontario
  • Works with store operations and franchisee to develop and monitor annual business plans and financial targets
  • Conducts quarterly Business reviews with Franchisees and District Managers to ensure focus is on the key metrics necessary to deliver financial and operational results
  • Prepares all franchise and other documentation required to support the franchise program and consults as needed with internal or external legal resources to respond to interpretation of contract language and terms.
  • Set up new franchisees and provide them with all necessary documentation and orientation.
  • Generation and presentation of proforma/financial analyses.
  • Delivers all functional reports and analysis accurately and on time and maintains a database of key financial information.
  • Maintains a project list to ensure all Franchise transactions are completed within established timelines and cover all aspects of the purchase and sale transaction. This would include the initial franchise, the mid-term renewals post expiry grants and buybacks.
  • Supports the operations team in documenting sub-standard program and standard execution and development of action plans.
  • Represent the Franchisor in Ontario to ensure alignment with our Franchise Program. Ensure franchisee complies with contractual agreements.
  • Support development and evolution of franchise program and business strategic priorities.
  • Develop and maintain internal relationships with operations, finance, legal, and real estate teams
Key Performance Measures (KPMs)
  • Delivery of projects/new franchise transactions to required timelines
  • On time delivery of all required documentation, reports, and analyses
  • High level of accuracy in all documentation
  • Increase in YIG & valu-mart franchisee satisfaction
Education, Training & Experience
  • Accounting Designation and/or Business Degree preferred
  • Experience with operational P&L statements preferred
  • Experience in creating commercial contracts and franchise documentation preferred
Job Specific Skills
  • Knowledge of approved accounting process and procedures
  • Strong analytical ability and knowledge of financials
  • Strong People Skills
  • Ability to independently handle Franchise negotiations
